You are kidding yourself. If Torney gets delisted then AFC deserves to be burnt down.

He's in your 1st 18 is he?

Untradable
Roo

Everyone else has a price.

Delist if unable to trade & not under contract.
Gallagher
Ladhams
Massie
Schuback
Shirley
Skipworth
M. Stevens
S. Stevens
Torney

I will be very surprised if any of the above are still at the club after trading next year.

My little list assessment...

Important Factor: Will be interesting to see whether the AFC goes with the minimum allowed 38 players for 2005 or the maximum of 40, or 39.

Assuming, we've got room to move under our cap + the fact that we should be trying to get as many good young players to our club as we can, I'd say we should go with 40 next year.

Currently our squad is sitting on 35 (including Lazarus, otherwise known as Matthew Smith).

I'm assuming we'll have 5 picks at the National Draft (8,24,40,56,72) + whatever we get for Tyson + Pick 5 in the pre-season draft. That's 7 more players to the squad, which takes us to 42.

Therefore, I reckon we'll only delist 2 more players (maximum of 3).

Gallagher will be 1, and I'd say Massie/Shirley/Ladhams/Bock/S.Stevens are all skating on thin ice.

It's fair to say that the real clean-out of these middle-of-the-range average players will occur at the end of 2005.

IMO opinion we have to keep Thorney, one of the few tough players we have. As for the rest of your list, it scrares me how many ordinary players we have. You could also add Bock, Smith and Burton to that list and then also hang questions marks over the heads of Begley, Bode, Biglands, Mattner and Perrie.

I agree, I reckon 3 players will be delisted at the end of this year probably Shirley ( big heart but no good ), Gallagher and Skippy. At the end of next year there will be many 2nd tier players falling out of contract and the mass purge will be on.

I don't agree about Torney as I don't think he has enough skill or pace. I wouldn't have him in my 1st pick side, so if he isn't a developing player then I would unload him.

I agree with your other players listed & would even add Bassett. I didn't add any of the guys you have named, because I figured there were so many duds above them they would be safe for a year.

I imagine that any of our fringe players who have contracts for next year would be thanking their lucky stars.

and the question also needs to be asked, why were these fringe players signed to a 2 year contract in the first place...

As I have stated on other threads Rutten is an untouchable IMO along with Roo and Benny (heart of the club) and then young guys like Henschel, Reilly and Watts.
Shirley, Skippy and Gallagher all have to go, possibly bite the bullet and get rid of Ladhams aswell, I know he is contracted but its not like we dont have the money.
Torney should stay, adds that bit of grunt, and has an experienced head on his shoulders to help the in the transition with the young guys with Nigel no longing in the side.

He'd bloody wanna be for what we gave up to get him.
Kane Johnson and picks 14, 30 and 46 to Richmond Tigers
Jason Torney and picks 4, 20 and 36 to Adelaide Crows

After Carlton got stripped of their picks those picks became 2, 18 and 32 (Luke Jericho)

Don't know about you but that was a pretty good trade IMHO. Its what we did with those picks later on that is highly questionable but in reality we really didn't pay over the odds for Torney.

Mine:

_F: _ Matthew Bode _ Scott Welsh _ Brett Burton
HF: _ Graham Johncock _ Mark Stevens _ Trent Hentschel
_C: _ Simon Goodwin _ Mark Ricciuto _ Brent Reilly
HB: _ Jason Torney _ Ken McGregor _ James Begley
_B: _ Nathan Bassett _ Ben Rutten _ Ben Hart
1R: _ Matthew Clarke _ Andrew McLeod _ Tyson Edwards

Assuming all fit, Stinger gone, we haven't drafted/recruited/delisted anyone.

(Big "assumption" regarding M. Stevens - I'm surprised he's not in Athens right now.)

Don't rate him.

His performance in the last Showdown was a disgrace.

If he'd done what he did (twice!) in a suburban/country league game he'd be spending 2005 in the Bs.

Mine would be pretty similar minus the birdman, can't stand the guy, very selfish footballer. I would also have Doughty at HB instead of Begley - injury prone.

That was PATHETIC by the AFL listed player. He deadset pulled out of contest but thing that really got up my nose was THAT incident that we referred to at the time.

No bassett down back? Bit harsh, he has been awesome since Rutten has come in, provides alot of run.

Fair point but while Jericho would add pace he sure as hell would also let his player run wild. He is best running out of the goal square. He looks lost further up the ground especially when the pressure is on.
