Tas, do you think his best shot at a regular AFL gig is as a tall forward/ruckman, or as a more mobile running/3rd man up type as I described.

I have doubts he is going to make it at AFL level. Goldy picked up AFL football the year he was drafted, Daw has played more footy than Goldy did prior to getting drafted. You either have natural ability to understand the game, or you do not and there is only so much you pick up through training and effort.

I think the only role he has shown any real affinity for is that goal square forward, that is largely because he doesn't have to do anything other than leap, mark and kick. He hasn't shown a natural understanding of the game that you want him in the middle.

He is competitive at the centre bounce or a stoppage if he can get a run and jump at the contest, but is showing a lack of footy smarts through the middle.

I tend to agree, but if the club were going to give the experiment one last go, for me it has to be in a different role, because we know what he can do in his current role and it just isn't enough. More's the pity, but at some point you have to walk away from a failed experiment.....

I was hoping that at the end of this year it'd be really hard to come up with names of players to delist, unfortunately it's easy to come up with 4 or 5, and up to 8 can be gotten to with a bit more effort, which is damning. Our poorest performing 6 or 7 aren't up to it, and our best performed 4 or 5 in the 20-28 age range aren't elite. Hence we're not in the top 4 conversation, let alone the top 2.

I'm an unabashed Daw believer, so obviously biased with his potential outcomes, but what's the rush to delist him?

In case you missed it, our KPF stocks suck to the degree I would only take ours over the Bulldogs, Dockers, Tigers, Saints and maybe the Lions although Close and McStay looked very promising for them on the weekend.

That's bottom 6 in the league and not good enough for club wanting to go places.

Daw offers, at most, a rosy future as a quality number 1 forward, and, at worst, a solid backup ruck who can go forward occasionally if the 1st ruck can share the workload.

I just don't get you most of the time.:(

My point being if we scrape into finals again the powers that be think all is rosy and nothing major happens in regards to changes that need to be made to win a flag, sometimes its better to take a step back to take 2 steps forward if you know what I mean. Dont get me wrong I want to see us in finals but not just making up the numbers with no realistic prospects.

I still don't get you, I am over taking backward steps to move forward.

I wouldnt mind seeing Petrie at CHB, Daw playing in the goal square with Black, Brown, Thomas and Wells up forward. If it looks shot, sub a tall and move Dish forward. If we are going to change up the forward structures, GWS is as good as any team to do it against

Daw wont be delisted

4 weeks out is probably as good a time as ever, here is my 2 cents worth.

gone
Daniel Currie - (Daw is two years younger and has greater upside, Wallace is 2 months older and has greater upside)
Liam Anthony - (pity really wanted him to show a few BF posters up)
Nathan Grima - (can't get on the park, should have kept Delaney and traded the TV star last year)
Max Warren - (rookie listed player that will be 22 and has 1 game)

up in the air
Robbie Tarrant - (can we get his body right?)
Tom Curran - (can we get his body right?)
Leigh Adams - (did he have any pre season at all, is that why he is so bad?)
Taylor Hine - (why has he been unsighted this year?)
Scott McMahon - (since the birth of his baby, has not got a decent night sleep, that is my guess how you can go from backline general to whatever the f$#@ you are now)
Joel Tippett - (was not that impressed, ok keep as a MA rookie)
Cameron Delaney- (can we get his body right?)

It is your decision, Sir
Michael Firitto

for the right price will entertain a trade
Drew Petrie
Sam Gibson
Sam Wright
Kieran Harper

and those that I thought would be gone, but have proven me wrong.
Robin Nahas - (plays like he knows it is his last chance)
Michael Firitto - (absolutely super year from the old man, shows the difference a pre-season makes)

so anywhere from 4 to 12 draft picks

gone
Daniel Currie - (Daw is two years younger and has greater upside, Wallace is 2 months older and has greater upside)-reckon he'll get an offer elsewhere
Liam Anthony - (pity really wanted him to show a few BF posters up) Travis Cloke ended his career.
Nathan Grima - (can't get on the park, should have kept Delaney and traded the TV star last year) agree, should be gone
Max Warren - (rookie listed player that will be 22 and has 1 game) your call I've NFI

up in the air
Robbie Tarrant - (can we get his body right?) will keep due to needs would be next to worthless
Tom Curran - (can we get his body right?)- rookie I'd suggest/hope
Leigh Adams - (did he have any pre season at all, is that why he is so bad?) doubt he'll be moved on
Taylor Hine - (why has he been unsighted this year?) shitman- no sure why we got him
Scott McMahon - (since the birth of his baby, has not got a decent night sleep, that is my guess how you can go from backline general to whatever the f$#@ you are now)- Gone I'd suggest/hope, great servant of our Club though
Joel Tippett - (was not that impressed, ok keep as a MA rookie) didn't look out of his depth, will remain I'd suggest
Cameron Delaney- (can we get his body right?) worth persisting with

It is your decision, Sir
Michael Firitto

for the right price will entertain a trade
Drew Petrie- nearing the end of a fair career
Sam Gibson- don't mind him TBH
Sam Wright- at least has shown some improvement the last few weeks.
Kieran Harper- we've come this far, would try again.

The reality is those you've listed would have very little trade value.
and those that I thought would be gone, but have proven me wrong.

Robin Nahas - (plays like he knows it is his last chance) wasn't upset when we drafted him, goes ok
Michael Firitto - (absolutely super year from the old man, shows the difference a pre-season makes) hopefully goes around again

so anywhere from 4 to 12 draft picks

Those I'd look to move on via trade or delist unfortunately...

D.Currie

B. Jacobs

B. McKenize

S. McMahon

N. Grima

L. Anthony

T. Hine

M. Warren.

I suppose the reality is we've a fair few we could get rid of, but we'll probably only use four picks.

I'd also offer up a few name players, but I'll keep that for another day.

if Sammy never comes good same could be said about him, he has never been the same since that hit he took against Richmond a few years back, was it Martin?

is it worth keeping injury riddled players? no trade value for any.

Leigh Adams - (did he have any pre season at all, is that why he is so bad?) doubt he'll be moved on
I agree but the question has to be asked.

Jacobs and McKenzie are too young to move on after just a few seasons, just my 2 cents.. I like Jacobs he was taken around the Atley pick yet he can play midfield (gets found out occasionally) but I don't see Atley in the middle so I don't know if he too would get found out.

I would expect Anthony, McMahon, Wilkins, and Hine as most likely departures, Curran to be delisted or hopefully rookie listed, and Warren and McGenniss from the rookie list, with the trade table being the realm of the gambler.

If you only work out the biceps you are going to have big biceps.

He needs to think almost like a basketballer going for a rebound. As strange as that sounds, he needs to widen his stance, lower himself a little and then when ready push forward towards the ball and try to grab it with arms at an angle rather than straight up. Gives him an advantage with his long arms and makes the defender have to chop the arms or put hands on his back.
Yeah, it's all beach muscles...size doesn't equate to strength. Pushed off the ball ways too easily. He's better off on the lead out from the square leaping into the contest.

Did someone say we should delist Grima, should have kept Delaney and wasn't that impressed by Tippett?

What games are they watching in this parallel universe?

After watching the replay, in the 2nd Q, that great judge Luke Darcy stated " that Maj's front two feet are facing forward ", apparently, this is his main problem when failing to take a contested mark, thanks for that darce
I'll assume you are being sarcastic muttley45 as Darcy was absolutely bang on what he was saying, in fact I thought it was Richo at the time. Darcy was a very very good contested mark in his time. Maj needs to learn to plant his feet, with one or both slightly turned to act more as an anchor so he's not as easily pushed forward. It's become a bit sad watching him topple forward so easily. I reckon David Hale had the same issue at North but has improved this over time. Goldy could also take a leaf outta the same book.
Watch footage of the Duck in his day, he'd almost turn his body slightly so his feet were like anchors and ya couldn't budge him.

:) Correct, i was being sarcastic, the theory about foot placement is bang on, but in his mangling of the english language, he gave no clear advice about where to position his back two feet, or any other strangely mounted bipedular instruments for maximum marking effect, sorry for being pedantic, but Darcy would be better off sticking to reading expert quotes on twitter, and quoting them incessantly

Isnt Currie contracted? Defs stays for mine as insurance.
Anthony is gone.
Spud may go out on his own accord instead of being pushed. Has been excellent and may bow out with a little left in the tank. Just my opinion.
The decision to sign Patch to a 2 year deal is a disaster. **** Juddy and what he did to him. ********er. Unfortunately Patch will never be that barrometer again.
Grima I would probably say retirement. He cant get on the park and his body is incapable of withstanding AFL footy. This year is the sign to pull the pin.
Wright has been very good since returning to the backline so he stays. Like what hes brought.
2015 will be Drews last year. Shown he can still influence a game but one more will do the Big Dish.
Tarrant to persist with because weve waited 7 years and with the inexperience of Daw and Brown and the out of form Black and the senior Drew, we need him.
Hine is gone. Skills are average. Tagging isnt much chop. Not sure why we targeted him from the Suns.
Nahas definitely gets a contract gig. Arguable an important part of our cog and forward line setup. Definitely best 22.
Curran to the rookie list. Poor kid cant take a trick.
Wilkins delist.
Tippet to senior list. Will take Narnis spot.
McGennis delist.
Turner to senior list.
McMahon to retire. His body just cant keep up with the speed of the game any more.
Warren persist with. Has been okay in the VFL.

Way I see it we will see departure of Anthony, Spud, Grima, Hine, Wilkins, McGennis and McMahon.

Adams is 26 years old. A two year deal is not a disaster and can we stop the Judd blaming for Patches form. It was two years ago for crying out loud.
Youve obviously never played footy and suffered an injury then?

Youve obviously never played footy and suffered an injury then?

Actually I did. I rolled my ankle and ran 10km on it 3 weeks later. Took a while to kick a football though.

Are you seriously telling me that Chris Judd pulled Patch's arm that badly that even after surgery and a shitload of time to heal that it would be that ****ed that the bloke can't even one grab a football? I find that hard to believe.

I would say Mcmahon, Adams, Anthony, are all about finished at afl level. If they stay on the list i suppose for depth thats a worry.
Gotta be Tarrant and Currens last chance next year, regardless of depth. Too many injuries.
Hine and couple others to go as well. Not talented enough.
