We've drafted plenty of mature players over the past 8 years, they've just largely been rubbish.
Plenty were/are ex-AFL but that adheres to the justification as discussed above. The players highlighted in blue below were drafted from the WAFL. 8 players drafted in 5 of the last 8 drafts.

I was referring to mature solid established footballers from which your list would number 4- Strijk, Hams, Priddis & Jones. Note - I exclude Wilkes as he was hardly established at the time. All the rest were kids with little to no senior football experience. Note - I exclude the 2011 & 2012 drafts because I acknowledged in a later post that WC had 'fallen into line' by then, but by then had missed getting a march on the rest of the comp.
The players whose names were raised at the time had probably played 100+ games & several had represented their state. As to young Embley - the decision to draft him still bewilders me.
