Forster-Knight? And you are telling me that the club should retire Long right now??

Please tell me you are kidding!!

Anyway, for the sake of this post, this is how I believe will be delisted at the end of the year:

McAllister - Has had his fair share of injuries, but the club has persevered with him too long. Definite.
Lalich - Was seen as a good back-up in the ruck or key position. Hasn't delivered at senior level, although he has been great in the VFL. That's not going to keep him on the list. Definite.
Wallis (retire) - He'll bow out at the end of the season. Great clubman whose duel premierships cannot be taken away from him. Definite
Bolton - He has been around for a while, but hasn't come on as quick as his compatriots. Hasn't had that many opportunities at senior level. Possible.

I'm loath to put Long in there. We'll just have to see how he goes this year. Not discounting him!

Stegs

Forster-Knight, give the kid a chance, the few games he has played I think he has shown that he could be an asset to the side.

On Longy, I am in two minds, I would hate to see him go, because if he can stay injury free, he could have at least 1 more season in him. But if we take the risk & keep him, we may have to sacrifice an up & coming player, (who we would get more seasons from) for him, then he gets injured again, we are basically down 1 player for most of the year. I would have to say the scales tip slightly in letting him retire at the end of this year.

What the hell would we get rid of Forster-Knight for? He has played senior footy already, and looks a good prospect. Long has still got another year in him.

I'd say the ones who "may" go are:

Lalich
McAllister
Bolton (maybe)
Wallis

And that's it. Maybe some higher calibre players may go, IF there are suitable trades on offer.

Lalich, Bolton and McAlister.
Wallis will more than likely retire and I think Long has one more year left on his contract. Regardless of that, I still think he has one more year left in him.

i can understand why you might think mcalister and lalich would both go, but i think another year might be an option, mcalister and lalich have both come a long way this season

to suggest bolton and f-knight should be delisted is rediculous

bolts has improved a heck of a lot, did a huge pre-season and has showed great leadership in the vfl, he has also held his own when given a chance in the senior team
he has played key forward, back, midfield, wing and even as a mobile ruckman and can become a very important player for the bombers in the years to come

f-knight is only in his second year at essendon, also remember he was drafted as a young 17 year old so this is really his first year of senior football, he is a good size and can probably become a bomber thompson/garry odonnell style player that can play back or in the midfield aswell as sneak the odd goal, i think he will provide the goods and make it at the top level

yeah maybe Longy has another year in him but Forsty everytime of seen him play . . . . well he didn't seem that good and i don't think hes going anywhere drop him now or drop in later they are the only choices

McAlister has been around for ages - time to go
Bolton and Lalich will probably make room for others
Wallis will retire
And, at the danger of incurring the wrath of everyone on this board, I would delist Aaron Henneman. He is fast becoming another Ed Considine - useless.

I've seen him a few times pull out of contests and last week he did have a shocker, dropping a simple chest mark in front of the freo goal and then they scored, but he is still young so he will most likely iron out these errors.

I too hope that Henneman irons out the mistakes from his game, but so far this season I don't think he has been hard enough at the footy. He lacks strength to compete one out with his opponent (Barry Hall for example) and makes too many basic skill errors (he has dropped several 'sitters' this year). I know he is young and might improve, but his lack of vigour and courage is sometimes a worry. Vigour and courage is something that you are born with - if he hasn't got it now, he never will!

Calling me a moron is a bit harsh Stegalator, you did after all ask for people's opinions and I gave you mine. Because it differs from your opinion is no need for personal abuse. If we all had the same opinions and agreed with each other all the time - how boring would that be? Grow up mate and contribute constructively to the discussions.

I agree with Bigstork of a few points. Aaron does tend to get outbustled far too easily, and i cringe when he is in one-one-one contests. I'm sure this is an area some opposition teams can exploit, and i believe the Bulldogs will try on Friday night.

This is why i still think there is a position for Dean Wallis in this side. Putting him on the long-term injury list means that if there comes a time in the coming months that one or two of our tall defenders go down, we'll have no one to replace them with (with exception of Robran). Wallis has the necessary toughness and experience to still be of worth to our side. IMO Henneman has Wallis' position, i'd like to see Wally get himself into a position where he works his way into the side.

I don't like the fact that everyone has written off Wally. Regardless...we all know that Pev will be on our senior list next season!

Agree with the Stork,Azza I feel is not up to it.
As for chopping others, with me it is the usual suspects, bolton, lalich and mcalister,no suprises there. Problem with these fellas is I don`t think they are on "good" money so chopping them probably won`t save us much moolah

Agreed, he does get outmuscled at times, that's why i think he'd be better suited playing on a flank rather than the key post. Needs to work on his disposal, and sometimes his decision-making ( although that will improve with experience) can be a worry. Having said that, he's given us some good run from defence and i believe he's shown enough to say he's definitely worth persisting with. Let's not forget, he's only played 20 odd games. The boy's still learning.

where's wally?

Walshy,

To say the McAllister and Lalich deserve another year is a bit silly as we need to delist at least 3 players at the end of the season because we need to draft at least 3 players in the national draft.

These 2 guys have been around for 4+ years now and have not shown that they can hold a regular spot in the seniors. Maybe we can trade them to another team where they would get more of an opportunity to play in the seniors.

McAllister
Lalich
Bolton
Wallis (retire)

Also look for 1 or 2 of the regular senior players to be traded for high draft picks because of salary cap problems.
