They you don't know Bucky - he is a quality administrator and would do what is best for the game. Just because he has a Port heritage does not mean he is evil personified.

I think from memory that he was mooted as a replacement last time and did apply but we ended up with Vlad because a South Australian had been in charge last time.

The AFL would be vastly different now if they had of gone with the best candidates which would have been either Brian Cook or Bucky.

Not sure how you could say the AFL would be 'vastly' different? Would be about the same, record crowds, record ratings and lots of money, everyones happy.

Simple point was (which is lost) is he doesnt have our interests at heart. Doesnt mean he could actively campaign against us, but do u think he would of helped us with the Gibbs fiasco for instance? Considering port power were the club that dobbed us in i doubt it.

Not quite!

Vlad was always going to be the CEO as he was groomed to take over from Jackson. Bucky was in the running for Adrian Anderson's position but Vlad got himself a lap dawg in B grade lawyer to be his right hand man.

Thanks for the heads up stiffy I know that he was in contention for a job with the AFL at that time but wasn't sure if it was the main one or not.

maybe get your facts straight first - it was not the port that 'dobbed' us in but a certain journalist in this town that notified the afl of an issue to do with the sanfl records, as well as that journalist also reminding the AFL tribunal that it had calculated a penalty for Burton wrong on another occasion.

You do realise that Port Adelaide actually put in a joint submission to the afl commission with the crows, west coast and fremantle that included moving the 'games played' years to cover a 5 year period after those clubs entered the afl? This would in retrospect make Ebert and the Morton boys eligible for Port and West Coast (they were selected illegially) and also mean that Gibbs was eligible for Adelaide.

Morton was actually selected legally, though Ebert wasn't. The subsequent rule change meant that Morton's younger siblings (one of whom is in the 2007 draft) consequently became ineligible for WC F/S selection.

I thought Morton had the same issues as Ebert as the way the wafl counted games was similiar to issues that the sanfl had. WA used to include state of origin games into a count of games played for a 'club'. There was a recent discussion on the main board about this in respect to the WA clubs. SA's problems were to do with pre-season games (that were played in the middle of the year) being included in 'senior' games.
