I remember a time not so long ago when Jonesy was the player every supporter loved to bag, but never for effort, which I think recently supporters have valued higher than ever before. Look at him now. Expecting big things from the lad this year.
That's exactly the reasoning behind my love for the little bald one!
@CFH: It's a guy that has played 100+ games versus a kid with 32 games that's as brittle as a champagne flute. But that's not to say all the hopefuls that votes for Howe over Beamer etc won't get up and win this one for Grimesy man.
Or, on the flip side, it's a guy with 100+ games who has dominated in no more than 10 of them and tried to beat 5 players out of pack in ALL of them, compared to a bloke who is revered around the club, even in the face of injuries and 32 games and looked the goods in at least 10 of them as well. But to each their own.
Grimes has not dominated 10+ games.
He is more brittle than my arthritic nan.
Nowadays I am looking for someone who can come out every week and give their all. MFC doesn't have much of that and I am sick of every player being the next great white hope. By years end, I would love to look back and see Grimes with his 50 games mark under his belt and in the SC elite defenders. But unfortunately I don't see him playing 22 or anywhere near it at the moment...
I was arguing this more about the fact that Jones is going to win THIS final (at the moment). Okay, he rolled Grimes and I would still take Grimes every day of the week, but how can you vote for him against Chip, an AA backman who is twice the player and gives the same passion and effort?
Oh well, to each their own I guess...
