The Mount Buller Demons have today made unusual revelations by admitting to attempting to poach several high-profile players during this season's mid-season trade period. The demons, seemingly the only active club in the lead up to trade week, worked frantically behind the scenes in order to attempt to bring some high profile players to the club. Publically, it was known that the demons made a pitch for the controversial Boncer. Also, they made attempts to lure lesser known tim_saints. Usually, a club will only admit to behind the scenes interest in the event that they succeed, but the dees have today revealed that several high profile players were approached. Okeydoke7 said "I personally approached maybe 5 or 6 players from the league, most of them were up and coming players we felt would fit our team.
However there were two very high profile players who were approached, and one other who is also well known." Although okey did not name who was approached, he made it clear that the demons were still in the hunt. "Although one high profile player never got back to us, others showed some interest for the future." Sources indicate that Gumbies player Peterss was the player not to respond. The other major player is believed to be very high profile, and saw a very bright future in the demons, before stating that although there may be interest in the future, he was happy at his club.
The Boncer deal never went through and Okey said at the time that "Boncer is irrelevant to the demons now that trade week has passed." However, inside sources have informed us that Okey, deep down, was dissapointed. More to the point, okey's attempt at luring up and comer tim_saints failed. "That was dissapointing, and it was mainly because trade week was too hard. There was no interest from other clubs and no real activity after little speculation, meaning most deals were too hard to organise."
Okey said the demons had not given up hope of luring some good posters to the club post-season. "We will endeavour to bring some good posters to the club post-season, only this way we get them free. Trading is not neccesary, which certainly makes it easier on our end." Very high profile players who declined a move still showed enough interest to encourage Okey and the Demons to pursue them further.
In other news, okeydoke7 has commited to the demons until the end of the 2011 season, ending internal and external speculation regaring his future. It is understood Okey was considering his future, before deciding that the dees were his first priority.
