A month ago the Demons were on the verge of a possible fold, fast forward to present day and they are celebrating a 2-1 series victory over SFA powerhouse Baghdad Bombers, and have managed to save their skins by recruiting some absolutley magnificent players to the club, but we'll address that later.
But co-captain TigerGlory has promised the Demons will not make the same mistake as the season previous and shout about anything.
"Reflecting back on it, we all carried on like pork chops before the start of last season, and to be honest, none of it was warranted. You look at the gun sides and they all kept their mouths shut. You didnt hear a peep from the Furies or the Bombers and they were both in the finals. They focused on the goal, and we plan on emulating that attitude."
The Demons suffered catastrophic personnel losses. Okeydoke7, Roughie, Bomberlegend and MagpieGirl_13 all moved on. To sum that up, an ex-captain, ex-Best and Fairest, The 2009 SFA Full Forward and... Roughie, all departed the club to leave it on its knees.
But in only a matter of days, club legend Deestroy has returned to spearhead a new breed of Demons. In no particular order the likes of CrowGirl74, Freakie, Surkin, cats2rise and GoCattas headline what is sure to be a core group of up and coming guns in the SFA. When you combine that with 2009 SFA Full Back Cooney, EddieBettsIsAChamp and Mr Versatile himself Headless, the Demons suddenly possess a talented group.
"Headless is an interesting one. He always seemed to be a bit underrated when you had blokes like EBIAC and Roughie in the engine room. But hes really come out of his shell this year and been one of our best players in the practice games. I remember he came out for Vic Country in last years carnival and tore Western Australia to shreds up forward too, so hes very versatile and we plan on using that to our advantage this year."
From this point on, TigerGlory has stated that the Demons will be focusing extensivley on the goal. That is, finals football in 2010, and that elusive Premiership.
"Im not going to be talking anymore garb now until the action begins. I hope the boys follow my lead and keep to themselves. We will of course get involved in the trash talk and the sledging, but we arent going to repeat the mistakes of 2009 and talk ourselves up to be bigger than we are, because while we think we have potential, at this stage thats all it is, potential. We havent done anything yet and we have no right to be talking ourselves up at this stage."
