Re: Brandon Marshall to be suspended

What, nothing about the SEN tipping comp on this thread?

:D

Hmmm, maybe the third post spooked him. ;) And those SEN prizes on offer...WOW!! can't wait to play a round at devils bend (golf) then go out for dinner at the Lobster Cave with a pocketful of golf balls.

only gagging Steve.. ;) I'm sure a trip to the Supabah to escort you will be the ONLY Prize worthwhile to win.. although a big screen TV with some strippers & booze (make mine Millers thanx) to entertain us all at HT wouldn't be a bad minor prize.. heck, third prize could be an evening with a boxom NFL cheerleader at the lobster cave... oh, and there is a forth prize!! .....eh, surprise me. :p

Re: Brandon Marshall to be suspended

I've got mixed feelings on this.
Obviously we will miss him for the 2-3 weeks but hopefully it finally makes him pull his head in.

Re: Brandon Marshall to be suspended

Will make the Chargers start to the season even easier, now that he and Steve Smith will miss the first few games

Not to worry. William Edward Royal will come to the rescue. :thumbsu:

Plus you have Rivers at QB. LOL.

Re: Brandon Marshall to be suspended

Hope to see some more wonderful work from Jay again this year

Rivers needs to learn that his role is to hand off to LT. As Champ said, he is surrounded by great players, but he isn't a great player. He may soon realize that.

If he's not careful he could turn into the next Ryan Leaf

Like having to hand it off the best player in the comp is a bad thing. And Champ's words won't mean anything until the Broncos actually beat us

14 for 19 264 yds 3 TDs 1 Int in their win over Indy in the playoffs. LT 7 for 28 yds. Got the Chargers home. Big season coming up for Rivers!!

I'm not doubting LT. It's the loud mouth im talking about.

And I think at the time I said it was a great effort.

One game doesn't make a player though. Lets see what happens this season..

Re: Brandon Marshall to be suspended

The thing about all great players, no matter what the sport is that they have a tremendous amount of humility. Running your mouth ultimately sets you up for a downfall. No one is doubting Rivers is a talented player but carrying on like a complete flog like last year will get him nowhere....

Very true redragger. Pressure is right on Rivers & his bubbling Chargers this season.
If we thought that NE need to make up for 17-1, spare a thought for a team like SD who fired Marty Schottenhiemer after a 12-4 season but bombed in the play-offs yet they can't buy a Conf Championship berth. Too easy to say both will play off in the Conf Champship. Just think of the two won't make it to the Conf Champship and then the media acid will pour thick and fast as it should.
The only way Rivers can turn it around for himself is by having a career best season. Simple as that.

Re: Brandon Marshall to be suspended

Excellent news for Bronco fans. 3 has turned into 1, meaning he plays in the key divisional game v SD...

from nfl.com

DENVER -- Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall's suspension for personal conduct violations has been reduced to one game, down from the original three.

Marshall had appealed the original NFL suspension and learned Thursday of the reduction.

He also forfeits his pay for an additional game, for a two-game total of $52,352.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Marshall for violating the NFL personal conduct policy with a series of misdeeds. At the time, Marshall was told the suspension could be cut to two games if he stayed out of trouble and kept in touch with a league-appointed counselor.

Goodell reduced the penalty after Marshall went to New York last week to appeal.

Marshall's suspension begins Saturday. He can return to Broncos headquarters Sept. 9.

Marshall caught 102 passes for 1,325 yards and 7 touchdowns last season and has shown no falloff this summer despite suffering a gash on his right arm that required emergency surgery this spring and sidelined him for almost all of the team's offseason field work.

Hopefully now with this reprieve he pulls his head in and becomes a good consistent player who keeps away from all the riff-raff...

Broncos the New Patriots? (ie, Deliberate Favoritism)

A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the game officials in Denver made another bad call that again contributed to a win by the Broncos.

Last week, it was Ed Hochuli’s failure to recognize that Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler had fumbled the ball, ruling instead that Cutler had thrown an incomplete pass. The Chargers easily recovered the fumble, which was overturned via replay to be a fumble, but which by rule was dead when it hit the ground.

This week, the crew of officials handling the game between the Saints and Broncos didn’t notice that a member of the Denver defense was clearly lined up offside on the third-and-short play that preceded the missed field goal by Saints kicker Martin Gramatica late in the game.

If the penalty had been called, the Saints would have gotten a first down at the Denver 19, with plenty of time to get closer for the potential game-winning field goal.

The referee was Ron Winter, but he was stationed behind the backfield. The head linesman was Jim Mello, and the line judge was Tom Stephan. One of them was straddling the line of scrimmage, and should have seen that the Denver play was lined up across the ball.

We’ve got a feeling that the Saints sounded like sinners once they figured out what had happened.

Is this just coincidence that the following things have occured??

1. Zac Miller held so obviously yet the penalty not called.
2. Hall's unsportsmanlike flag (the second one) was absurd, it's happened every game since and no flags get called for it.
3. The San Diego game. Many incidents there.
4. Now this Saints incident.

Re: Broncos the new Patriots? (ie, deliberate favoritism)

Take a look at the holding they called on Bush's TD that was called back.

They either called it on the wrong player or it's the worst holding call made this year.

FWIW gg, we discussed this at length in the Week 3 thread.

Camsmith isn't going to be happy with you. :D

And yes . . . the Broncos are 3* - 0 :)

Re: Broncos the new Patriots? (ie, deliberate favoritism)

Oh - I thought this was going to be about their ability to score alot of points.........or a video tape controversy ;)

Re: Broncos the new Patriots? (ie, deliberate favoritism)

The Bronco's running game also fits nicely with Belichick's running scheme of never letting one person dominate carries and screwing over fantasy footballers everywhere :p

Re: Broncos the new Patriots? (ie, deliberate favoritism)

The integrity of this board is challenged yet again with yet another ridiculous conspiracy thread for a fan to complain about team doing well. I hoping it's meant to be jocular.
