It would just be nice to be able to think straight for once. Spent over half my life in a fog and have missed so much because of it. Made so many bad decisions which only feed into the cycle. I resent being human. Would rather be an amoeba.

The best time to stop making bad decisions was yesterday. The second best time is today. Identify what negative aspects are keeping you in your holding pattern of poor decisions and look at ways to eliminate them. I appreciate it's easier said than done, but if you're going to make any meaningful progress it needs to be done at some stage.

Great advice and a great line.

The worst thing is I'm pretty painfully aware of why I keep making bad decisions. it's not every decision that I make that's bad, but it always seems like the biggest ones and even if it's not, I still have to deal with it for a little bit because of a moment of poor decision making brought on by overthink.

And I think for people in this thread, even a small setback can overshadow a mountain of work you may have done previously. It's just that battle to see the bigger picture and not focus on every negative thing that comes our way.

Just a constant struggle to stay out our own head. Some days are rougher than others.

Best to look forwards and rarely backwards.

Spot on, there's things everyone regrets or wishes they'd done differently in the past and if you had your time over you'd do them again. Part of being able to move on is accepting that they were made by someone who's not your current self and without the benefit of hindsight you currently have. Try not to beat yourself up too much mate, for guys especially we can be our own worst enemies at times.

Cheers mate. Sometimes it just helps hearing that from outside your own head.

You need to be able to forgive yourself. That is important. Humans are erroneous, self centred creatures. We are not built perfect, with perfect coping mechanisms.

You need to be able to look yourself in the mirror, say well that didn't go as planned and punch on the next day. To do that, you need to be able to forgive yourself brother.

Do that, take the learning of whatever decision didn't quite go to plan as what was calculated in your head and keep breathing, keep living.

Love yourself first.

Forgive myself you say? I've done a lot of nasty stuff to myself 😂

In all seriousness though, I've been able to accept everything I've ever done, I've never considered forgiveness. It doesn't come naturally I must admit, even towards others.

I suppose I don't/didn't see much difference between accepting and forgiving oneself, but having thought about it the two are pretty different.

It'd probably be easier to take future opportunities if I could forgive the ones I blew in the past.

Probably good advice for all in here.

Cheers mate, I do appreciate it.

You're a good bloke Crushy.

Same goes to you :) though I have a mental image of you crushing demons with your bare hands so I doubt youd need me for help 😂

We all have weaknesses mate, all of us. Those that don't just hide it better. I challenge any human to tell me they have no regrets in life, makes a nice bumper sticker but it's out an out bollocks.

Well I'm always willing to lend an ear if you need :)

I hear you there. I wish it could've been different and I did things differently.
But while there is life there's hope.
We all make bad decisions. Just now have to make the best ones possible and the right ones

please dont take this the wrong way, like im not so subtly bragging or some shit..

But anyway, ran into a couple of homeless/struggling ppl today- one was selling The Big Issue (lets face it- i didnt really wanna buy one)- but I did. I paid $10 for a $9 mag, she gave me $2 change bc she didnt have a $1 coin. I took it feeling terrible (i gave it to the busker right next to her)... so instead double backed after getting some change for my $50 and giving her an extra $5.

Then saw another poor chap, sitting on the footpath, ppl just walking by. Gave him the other $5 and had a bit of a chat.

Moral of the story- it does make you feel good + also puts alot in perspective. Usually im just really shy and would never talk to these ppl. But usually they really appreciate the fact that ppl "see them" and not just walk right on by.

That's not funny.
Laughter can heal mate. Might not be funny to you, but making a joke might be the only thing stopping someone from breaking down.
