After watching that game today, the saints have got players who are capable of playing at the elite level.
We don't. We have got kids playing who aren't ready.
We made mistakes, that were costly for us. Whilst the saints were awesome and showed us how to play footy.
It wasn't the umpiring. It was our player mucking around with the footy. Why handball all the time?
That was shit.

Why kick to 3 st kilda players and 1 hawk player?

That's not the umpiring.... that's our players ****ing around with the ball.

Croad, Sewell, Ladson, Ellis, Young, Williams, Dew, Guerra, were all missing today, and most of the season we have been with out also, Riloi 3 weeks, Hodge 3 weeks, Robbie a long time, Ozzie too, and add to that we lost the brains in Tod Viney, yet we have managed to win 8 games still, I wouldnt be starting to blame kids that have played a handfull of games when you look at our outs and the pressure the kids are under no wonder we have gone backwards this year.

St.Kilda has a far older list than ours. Not only that, but we are missing as many players from our best 22 as they were.

So sure, we are far more inexperienced and you could say their depth is greater than ours. But don't forget that it's way easier to look good in a team that is confident and winning.

Now S2G...you have gone a little soon with this one..... try 8 players who could come straight in and add to that side...Ellis Ladson Sewell Croad Dew Willo Young Guerra , some young some not so.....add to that kids who are also able to play but are out or on the trail back..like Moss,Baily,Mustons, Thorp (who really knows about him ) etc
Throw in the likes off Savage Bruest Milne and Lisle all of whom iv watched at Boxhill and think thay came play ......it aint all dome'n'gloom..:thumbsu:

100% spot on, like Rioli last year, and Tuck and JK3 they all look great last year thats why we thought we had great depth, when a team has a winning formula and are running around with confidence the kids come along and feel comfitable and play with free of pressure...

No no the umpires were PERFECT. I mean Buddy Franklin getting shoved in the back and smacked in the Gob in the same play doesn't warrant a free kick, no not at all.

There is plenty of depth to be had - it is being developed this season. Hawthorn will be better for it next year.

Rioli and JK3 have played well this season, especially before Rioli was injured.

Yeah but we don't have any players to cover the guys that are out injured. No depth means we are shithouse.
Oh and our season is over.

Yeah Tuck is a worry. Maybe he's carrying an injury or his confidence is shot?

Kennedy has really impressed me though. I wouldn't like to see him out of the team now. Same goes for McGlynn who has taken big strides this year.

Depth , now lets think , Hmmmm , thinking , thinking , thinking , Oh ! yeh , one name comes to mind , Zac Dawson , Oh! that;s right he was delisted , sahme about that .

Disagree!!!!

You want depth, but you don't want to go through the pain and process of getting depth. You don't get depth by drafting young players and not having injuries to the senior team.

Yes 2009 sucks, but one positive of all the senior injuries we have endured is our youth got valuable experience. Sure our young fella’s can’t pull together a premiership year in 2009 and it would be unfair of us to expect them too!!!

Our youngster have pulled together performed as well as could be expected given their
experience in the AFL and playing together.

If our young lads can do this positively when the club is in dire straits, what can they do when the HAWKS SNR are up and Running?

I think we now have depth and having two at a time joining in with our senior team, we will see then lift up to another elite level in AFL footy.

Dowler, Shoey, White-cross, Kennedy, Moss, Renouf, Sheils, have all bridge the Gap and filled the void left by our injured seniors. At the beginning of the year had very little game time and need to be congratulated on coming together and for there efforts even though the results don’t show on the ladder.

As for you Hawks fans calling for the heads of Tuck, Thorpe, Morton, Bailey, Muston GET REAL the hawks have invested time and money into these men. These guys have shown promise and have youth on their side, which will become our depth in the future. Do you want them to be delisted when they should start repaying the club for the faith shown them?

On the other hand you want to keep the likes of Tim Boyle and Simon Taylor who despite being educated and having time put into them are unable to fore an AFL Career!!! Boyler has been at the club for ages and unable to make the cut due to injuries. Taylor keeps playing the man and giving away undisciplined free kick and lack skills, time for these two, to exit.

With a some fine tuning; a midfielder in the ilk of S Crawford and a Full back in Chris Langford the Hawks are setting to challenge regularly in the final again.

This is not the omega, it is the ALPHA of the hawthorn club. GO HAWKAS!

Miss Hawk Fan.

Don't start using logic and making sense around here - it's positively medieval and people have got burnt at the stake for less.

It's happy hour for the hysterical and heretical.

You're right, the game time we've put into our young players will stand us/them in good stead for the coming years.

However, what has disturbed me is the way we've playing - all that pointless handballing, the lack of system going forward, the half-arsed intensity. We've lacked purpose and direction all year. So while these kids have got games, it hasn't exactly been quality time.

Correct :thumbsu:. A good style of play can make any player look the part. Look at geelong with some of the players they have brought in such as hogan and gillies. They would struggle in a half decent side.

Just goes to show how one dimensional our game plan can look. Either that, or Clarko really has to think about having a Plan B and Plan C next year.

But seriously... I agree (an have done since the start of the year) with the depth suggestion. The relative age of our list puts us squarely in the 'developing' category. We are probably expecting a little too much from the boys, but that's easy to do after you win an unexpected premiership.

We DO however need some KPP Backmen... it's really quite embarrasing when your backup trips over his own feet, can't run down a lampshade and continues to fumble to ball. I hate criticising our own players, but as a member sometimes I just can't stand seeing that week in week out.

As has been said on this board for a while now.... they should seriously delist Taylor (wont get anything for him, cause the whole world knows how dumb he is now) and rethink some other positions, so we don't end up killing our own, i.e. Thomas Murphy.

Yeah i agree.... all the stuffing around with the footy and going backwards. It reminds me of when Clarko first took over the Hawks and was trying to teach the boys his game plan, only this time he has a team full of youth.

As for the coaching i'd love to see Dixon as our forward coach; He knew how to lead in to space or take a pack mark and boy could he kick a goal.

Sorry Johnny Barker you seem like a great guy but you have to go. We need some one that knows how to take control of a game and win it of his own boot. additional Dixon is a great communicater.

This is what buddy and Roughie needs to be taught sadly again!

I've posted this a few times, but here goes again: Roughhead looks completely lost at the moment. Has no idea where he should be, what he should be doing.

Clarko does have a plan b and a plan c except they just don't work when you play kids who are covering for players that are out injured.

I'm afraid, sitting at that ground yesterday, I saw no evidence of any plan except handball. The players looked lost and indecisive due to the lack of a gameplan. Which has been the story for much of the year.

Your optimism and loyalty is admirable S2G, but I'm hoping that our coaches don't hide behind such specious excuses, because unless they view this year's performances objectively, we're in serious trouble
