Maybe I need to get better glasses, but Giro has impressed me. Yes, he has some rough edges but we can work on them, plus he WANTS the ball. He is a goer, and creates.

If only Matera had Giro's heart …..

and McCarthy for that matter.

Pretty harsh making Jones do a "first derby" vid then not selecting him.

Should be able to generate some proper forward pressure if Ballas can stay on his feet.

In isolation, Ballas and McCarthy are bad ins, but the team definitely has a better balance and look to it.

Imagine Bennell instead of Ballas, would have been sweet

Duman maybe be unlucky but the guy is almost a complete liability defensively. I think he has a future on the provision he can put on about 10 kilos. I swear Puopolo breathed on him heavily once last week and the kid went flying 10 metres passed the ball

Grey/Matera/Crowden/Ballas/Walters will hopefully harass the hell out of WC's defenders. Have to bring the ball to ground at all costs and exploit them with speed and pressure. At least there looks to be a tangible plan this week

5 changes? Wow - they are clearly rolling the dice and I don't mind it.

Of course, McCarthy and Ballantyne have done nothing at the WAFL level but we need some 'potential' firepower up front, Ballantyne also has a damn good long-term Derby record.

Super stoked for Grey as I think he's the kind of role-player we need in the side, plus Sutty and Sherro out of the side who just aren't cut for the best 22.

What's the deal with Duman out though? Thought he was OK and we really need to persevere with guys like him and Hughes to see their worth. Plus Giro, only had one or two poor games - is he just being rested?

Grey and Crowden to apply much needed forward pressure. Better inclusions than most weeks, shame McCarthy is gifted another game, but his two derby games have actually been pretty good, so hopefully his derby form continues.
