I respect the call by you, but honestly I admire how he goes about his playing and wants to back himself in. I wish more people backed themselves in from 50 or had more pings at goal on the run instead of trying to do one pass too many and upping the probability of a turnover.

Yeah agree, there’s definitely something there to work with. It’s kinda like Crowden early on, pace of the game is just a bit above him atm.
I don’t really care who plays week in and out tbh, whoever wears purple I wanna see succeed.

I think he could be a great Ballaz replacement, and maybe he’s just struggling with role or no real talls up front, but he needs to do more

No. Just no. We do this and have only Darcy as tall when Tabs go to ruck? McGovern will have 20 marks by half time alone!
Jones/Darcy for me. Darcy is clearly working his way back and Jones is a smart footballer, and thought he got into this game. Took some grabs, competed. The kicks to him were woeful.

Also, people expecting Matera to kick a bag. Hell any Forward under Ross kicking a bag is a rarity. It's all about the tackles :/. In the last quarter he was actually in his position and wanted to have a few snaps. Just play him deeper ffs.

We did a couple of different ones today, so we need to persist with that line of thinking.

That's a good idea too. 4 games left in the season. Just give him a taste of it. But feel he ll he pretty raw, reminds me of Zac Clarke when he first played.

Those three would complement each other very well. Tabs as CHF, Cox FF and most importantly of all, McCarthy as third forward. Finally. He ll need that. Now he can play his position. Matera and Gray would boost that forward line hugely.
Today's forward line was so garbage.
Here's the forward line we should have, for the rest of the season (injury permitting):

HF: Bennell/Matera, Tabs, Grey
FF: Mccarthy, Cox, Strnadica/Jones (resting ruck)

Give that a chance, each player gets their natural role. Mccarthy surely then has no excuses, he's finally the third forward.

Brad Hill in the last quarter from D50 went to run and kick down the line but ducked inboard and hit a target down the guts.

Guys like Wilson, Hills need to do this from D50 otherwise there’s no point playing them down there.

he isn't playing close enough to goal. Matera is a deadeye on the run and has a great snap but seems to spend half his time running through the midfield. I don't get it.
