Coll upgraded Pick 11 for 10. Freeman to Sheed.
Collingwood gave WC the second round pick which netted Yeo.
Wrong, upgraded to pick 6. Hine wasn't interested in 3rd round picks that year because of the lack of depth in the draft so it was all about moving up

I don't care what mistakes he's made. Hawks took Mitch Thorpe ahead of Joel Selwood. Every person, in every club and in every other profession makes mistakes (sometimes regularly!). Hine is good.

The end.
Great point, how often does that get mentioned? Hawks aren't perfect, they have done a couple terrible draft selections, I guess that's why they started to always trade them

Okay Mick, once again you've got the facts completely wrong.

We traded picks 11,31 and 49 to West Coast for picks 6 and 44.

We traded pick 44 to Sydney for Jesses White.

Elliot Yeo was traded from Brisbane for pick 28 which was West Coast's original second round pick. So this had nothing to do with Collingwood.

West Coast took Malcolm Karparny at pick 31 and Dylan Main at 49.

Sydney took Aliir Aliir at pick 44.

So they are the players you should be comparing Jesse White to.

Just to make it clear: Elliot Yeo had nothing to do with our trading and was acquired with West Coast's original second round pick (28) not the pick 31 we traded to them.
Love it when an OP is reemed with the facts, and the entire premise of his negative comments obliterated.
Well done mate.

OP has one final opportunity to admit he was wrong. Nothing wrong with opening up a discussion, but you gotta get your facts right.

I think the facts have now been made very clear, and its time to admit you were wrong. I give you one opportunity.

If you fail to respond, or try to rejustify your position, you will lose all credibility and be put into the pile of troll posters.

He never had credibility, RCT has been spinning shit for years.

This thread will be interesting if one of Treloar or Aish doesn't come in. Other clubs are doing trades and Hine is stuck.

To start the ball rolling, let's clarify some things.

Hine took over as List Manager at the end of 2013, Geoff Walsh walked out during the middle part of that year, shortly after the Harry O'Brien drama.

Don't believe Derek is a bad recruiter. He is a very good recruiter of U18 kids, that is a difference to bringing traded players in.

Hine has brought in these recycled players. White, Tony Armstrong, Clinton Young, Taylor Adams, Varcoe & Crisp. I'd put his strike rate at 50/50.

A lot of criticism gets thrown towards Buckley but our list management under Hine has been questionable.
White was a 7/10, Young a 3/10 (due mainly to injury out of Hines control), Armstrong a 5/10, TA an 9/10, Varcoe a 9.5/10 and Crisp an 8/10.

7 + 3 + 5 + 9 + 9.5 + 8 = 42/60...
In anyone's book that's 66%, not 50/50 and in the market and current draft climate that's phenomenal.
That's a better strike rate than the best ever coaches win loss ratio's.

You may have a different agenda than most supporters though.

Derek Hine has netted us some great players.

Jesse White was the best we could get at the time. Not every club lets big guys go for free.

Taking a whack at Derek Hine in a Collingwood forum is either brave or stupid.

Congrats Mick! You've become the first ever person I've used the "ignore" function on.

Enjoy the rest of the trade and draft period grumpy cat!
