Derm the Germ starting part time fwd structure coaching role with Saints. TODAY!

Literally just hearing this on SEN. Cannot believe the Watters-loving mate would ever work at the Saints.
Says it’s Gubby’s request, for 1:1 forward craft and tuition like he did for GWS.
Sounds like Parker’s in his sights as well as the other forwards. Once a week.

My my my how footy brings people together. If someone had said to you ou 12 months ago that these 2 blokes would be working along side one and other at the saints you would have died of a laughing fit.
Hopefully DB can get some killer mongrel into the key forwards and straight kicking would also be a big plus!
All the best Derm

Saints supporters just had their own red wedding

FMD Why would we have that piece of crap 💩 at our club

To be fair he is actually a good bloke when you have a beer with him by all accounts......

He also knows his s**t about being a forward.
And has been nothing but disrespectful and spoken about our club like we are a pile s**t

I actually no longer care about the personalities.

If he is good at what he does then all power to the club for having the foresight to appoint him.

Don't care if he lives us or hates us as long as he does what he's paid to do.

If anything, having a deeper involvement with the club might change his views which up until now are those of an outsider.

I'd love to have a beer and talk footy with Derm.
I couldn't care less if he had a go at the club when we ditched his mate. Doesn't have much to do with the current administration, and am pretty sure Derm would be thinking that way. And at least he puts his gripes out there, instead of surreptitiously sniping away at the club like some in the media do.
On top of that, while he sometimes speaks some overanalytical rubbish, he's a pretty thoughtful guy when it comes to footy - especially when it comes to the work the forwards are doing during a game. Would love for our players to suck that knowledge dry and do with it what they will, hopefully take it to the next level.
Then when Roo's done with downing dumplings in Shanghai, maybe he can come along and add to it all, and bring that Wanganeen guy with him. Wanganeen can do a Nathan Brown and work hard at the club to try to make up for costing us a flag.

Dont know if Ratten, Lade, Playfair, Slater, Allen,Lethlean, or others that have been appointed by the Saints had any overt love for the STKFC before starting at the club.

Brereton had a relationship with Allen at GWS, and this is the reason he has accepted the position.

And isn't that one of the reasons we got Allen in the first place? Because he is a slick and knowledgable football person who knows his stuff and has relationships right across the football spectrum?

People say don't blindly trust the club and that's fair, but Allen has the runs on the board as far as I can see so I will go with him in this case.

Excuse the ignorance but what is a red wedding?

Also, I think this is the first time the club has gotten a specialist outside the club to work on forward “Craft”

Frustrating that it’s taking so long, because someone like Paddy could have really used this earlier.

Let’s hope he’s more successful than Ben Dixon :p

I'm no champion FF but even I could see Paddy seriously lacked in forward craft. He's good at timing his leads and getting the jump on his defender but that's almost it. No big chest pushes before leading, poor body work most of the time (he looks much, much better when he goes an early hip bump or harder early contact rather than getting drawn into a grapple/wrestle). He can't even protect the drop enough to outmark caleb daniel.

But one of the best forward craft specialists I've seen is right in our backyard and we're not making any use of him.. fella called Milne. His body work and positioning was as good as it gets, constantly outmarking much bigger opponents. We should definitely have him down at the club in a part time capacity..

Don’t get me wrong, I think this is great appointment, but I think most people remember his many potshots at the club when his mate was fired.

He probably wasn’t too far off the mark when he spoke about the “list cloggers” in the team but his criticism was more vitriolic than just that from a media commentator. The Watters thing obviously really stung him.

All that aside, it’s years ago and I’m happy to have anybody at the club that has the expertise to take us further.

As you say, probably exactly what we got a Gubby for, so he’s doing his job.
Now if he can just get us a great name trade at the end of the year...
