I like him, mostly because of his bias towards Hawthorn and his blatant hatred of Essendon. It's everything I'd want to hear from a commentator.

Still a bit of a flog though.

He's turned me off any show/panel/game he sits on.

Stupid thread. Brereton is one of the smartest people in football. His analytical skills and football brain are second to none. He's easily in the best 2-3 people in the AFL media.

I've heard it mentioned before but he does talk like he's had about six beers. As a Hawthorn supporter he does make me cringe only because 'he's one of us' but there are far worse commentators out there that have been mentioned. How Tom Harley gets away with repeating the exact same story about Luke Bruest slipping through the Swans academy or how he is from a rugby league background in EVERY SINGLE MATCH HE CALLS is staggering!

I actually don't mind him too much, his Cyril masturbation gives me the shits but he's not the lone ranger there. He does think he's smarter than he is though, I remember one time on SEN he was arguing with a physics professor who rang up about one of Newton's Laws or something. I think it was Schwarz who said "So Derm are you really trying to argue this bloke is wrong and you are right?" Derm reckoned it was just a difference of opinion!

There are some commentators I definitely don't enjoy. But I am kind of over these repetitive threads complaining about commentators, though I think 7 has gone down hill and fox has a mix of very bad and very good commentators.

It's getting a little tiresome. Personally I don't mind Derm

Cant stand the bloke - to be honest i dislike most commentators. Its just a joke now.

Brian Taylor makes me want to jump off a bridge. He is by far the worst commentator out there and it's not even close.

Is this for real? Regardless of how inane you find his comments, at least they're actually about footy. This one thing puts him well ahead of just about any other commentator

He craps on like he's a dad at a high school footy game. Always giving meaningless advice on what he thinks the players should be doing whilst the game is going on. He cannot go 2 minutes without stroking his ego by saying shit that he thinks makes him appear to be all knowledgeable like an old master of the game. Just stfu Dermott and call what's happening.

He is there for the purpose of making special comments about the games, certain players ect not to call the game.

Poor call this one imo as I actually think he is one of the more interesting special comments commentators out there. He does constantly go to the thesaurus too much with his vocabulary, but I can deal with that.

He's ok.. would be way better if he didn't waffle on so much and talks about his own playing days a bit too much, needs to learn how to actually be concise with his comments. Probably a bit late to change now though..

There's a whole thread dedicated to him on the Eagles board, has nothing but open disdain for West Coast but keeps getting picked to commentate on our home games. He's a product of the poor standards of footy commentating, bit like a reserves player being forced into the first team because everyone else is crap. It's time to stop giving these gigs to former players, surely there are heaps of people out there with Journalism/Media degrees who could do the job better then the current rabble.
