I'll take Dermie's commentary any day over Tony Shaw. Can't stand Shaw's commentary.
Also, no former player should commentate their former team. Cameron Mooney at a Geelong game is beyond frustrating

When Mooney interviews someone at the quarter time breaks or after the game, his expression when he's listening to the answer (no matter what it is) is exactly the same as the expression every bloke has when a girl he is keen on is banging on about God knows what and he's desperately trying to look earnest, caring and interested.

Don't think you can compare him to Bruce or Huddo etc as they are callers. Derm is a special comments guy so his role is different.

It is! However it would be nice if in the process of his special comments he didn't bang-on interminably and mangle the English language in the process.

Dermie needs to save his 80's stories for Hawthorn functions. Too many of his commentaries turn in to self-aggrandising recollections of what he did in the 80's. A lot of viewers weren't born then and don't give a toss about what happened way back when while they're watching a live game.

Sometimes I hate it and sometimes it's ok. I have issues with most commentators though. He and Chef calling a Hawks game is ok sometimes but they sometimes try and be over unbias.

Stupid thread. Brereton is one of the smartest people in football. His analytical skills and football brain are second to none. He's easily in the best 2-3 people in the AFL media.

I agree. I love listening to Derm on special comments and feel he gives a great insight on style of play and player movements among other things on match day.
