Well, that's probably true, the Blues are getting desperate and it's 20 years since success came their way and right about now you would have to say they are languishing down amongst the also - rans of the competition. The Blues can now be lumped in with the Dogs, Saints, Roos and Dees in the middle of the road. Both the Dogs and Roos have better prospects currently. The Blues have a problem, Mad Mick has a contract for 2015 and Bomber Thompson will either exit the game altogether or go elsewhere when Sir James returns, what do they do? Do they offer him the world or make a play for Hawthorn's Brendon Bolton? The Malthouse experiment hasn't worked and needs to be nipped in the bud sooner rather than later, i don't think the Blues know what to do period.

Not because I am saying it didn't happen.

But because everything that comes out of Dermie's mouth is really a story about his FIGJAM self.

Reminds me of listening to Ian Chappell commentate particularly in the 80s.

The waffle was just hiding the real underlying story about how Ian Chappell was the greatest test captain ever and what idiot would place the field that way or change the bowlers that way or just occupy the crease with no positive strokeplay.

Dermie's 800 words to say 30 is just because he cannot directly say FIGJAM.

You must have loved FiveDays&FiveNights article on Malthouse in the fish and chip wrapper today. A thousand words of drivel, just so he can slip in a story about how he played under Mick in an All Stars vs Essendon game nearly 30 years ago. Clearly no-one but Mick and Dermie gave a toss about the game because Mick still thanks Dermie today for laying a couple of Essendon players out and showing the All Stars team what commitment to the cause really meant. It's a special quality to (not so) subtly heap praise on yourself whilst writing an article on someone else.

Haha, this is every commentator in every game Adelaide plays and every team vs GWS and GC, they barely mention Adelaide is playing out there bar Dangerfield and Sloane and if Adelaide are ahead they aren't just barracking against them they are coaching the opposition, "how can they turn this around?", I've never seen this the other way round. When vb, bv, mackay, reilly were all playing they would mix up all of them and sometimes even mixing up Symes into this.

GWS and Gold Coast it's even bigger bias and this is clearly company line propaganda, continuous apology for their woeful performances and talking up their talent.
Ex-crows are the worst they make a bigger effort to appear non-biased and fit in with the rest.
We get Dwayne Russel a cross town supporter almost every game, we have blokes umpiring from the commentators box and replaying crow favored decisions to poke holes and then skipping over anything else.

The commentators we should have are Rex Hunt and the EJ whitten game crew.
I'd like to have Dunstall but we never get him.

As to the OP, sadly I tend to agree with the general sentiment expressed in this thread. I do think that Dermie is actually quite insightful and has a great tactical understanding of the game...but he completely ruins it for himself and those that have to listen to him, with his long-winded dribble and constant narcissistic references to himself. Is a real shame cos those not old enough to have seen him in his prime (99% of bigfooty for example) only know him for the w***er he is in the media now. His immense courage and ability should have him revered instead of reviled, but I completely get how he's perceived the other way around.

They sit in the box opposition ex players, coaches and supporters which are always Victorian and Dwayne Russel, Roo is put there for balance but he's not a balance to it as he is understated and reserved.
There are no pro Adelaide commentators, where as there is an anti there near on every game combined with the talent in the boxes people struggle not to mute them.
What's ridiculous to me is you think people are neutral ever. Like they are sitting their chanting ohmmmmmmmmm in their power center with their spirit animals or whatever.
Some people are crazy anti-port but most would prefer port to beat Victorian teams as an Adelaide supporter, as well they'd prefer interstate teams to beat them too, except probably the Swans for their cola and whenever they make finals they basically become south melbourne again which is a joke. Your dreaming if you think there is no Vic rivalry, with other states.

Leigh Matthews is supposed to be an AFL expert, he commentated our game against the crows and made mention of how we had used watts in the ruck and he had never seen it before
