Des headland has been an overwhelming disappointment, and his next contract offer will reflect that, he is payed so highly and to never have been in the top ten in the best and fairest (the point system is given by the coaches by the way) is just not good enough. i cant stand the fact that he keeps going to the west australian saying that he needs to stand up, that he needs to deliver and that he needs to repay the faith the coaches have shown him, only to see him disappointing us all again. either we need to cut our losses with him and trade him, or he needs a significantly improved performance, the other option is that he plays for a hell of a lot less. And by the way, you can never question mcmanus' endeavour, can you say the same about headland? no!

Hmm. Where did he finish last year? I thought it was 6th???

If you are so disappointed with him why do you think he should get another contract offer? And I'd prefer Headland in the team over MacManus, though I have no idea why you'd want to do that comparison. Endeavour isn't enough on it's own. If MacManus hadn't improved his skills (which happened when he was older than Headland is now) then he would not be selected.

dont get me wrong, i believe des headland is a dissapointment as stated, however i still believe he as some value, just not at the highly inflated price he is being payed at. if there is a suitable trade, trade him, if not keep him at a lot lower price.
for the record i have never had any problems with des' skills, i think he has fantastic skills, my problem is with the amount of possessions he gets, and the endeavour he shows when we are behind. if fremantle are down, headland goes missing, if we are up, then all of a sudden he pops up. he is a front runner, and that is not the sort of player we need, we need players who will be there when the game is slipping away, headland doesnt do this, mcmanus does, macca will do the tackles the chasing and the sheppherds, headland wont and that is my point

Never ever put Longmuir in the same bracket as Gilmore. Longmuir has some form of talent.

T-Lo would have been handy for the first 6 weeks.

Who would you have left out for him, remembering that Gilmore's inclusion was partly as 2nd ruck? Can't see that it would have made any difference whatsoever. I'd rather Walker, Webster, Browne, MacManus, Cook, or any of the other fringe players.
