So the NRL are looking at isolating their players somewhere and trying to play out the season. The players are apparently keen.

Would the AFL look at something similar?

that would be very cool.

I suggest Western Australia since we have a much lower rate of illness compared to you savages on the east coast.

send all AFL teams to Tassie? Jazny your dream?

Tasmania would not be a bad choice actually as Tasmania is actually quite large and has a reasonably small population. It would be possible I imagine to find a reasonably isolated part of Tasmania that has a football field. The main problem would be housing as it would also need enough housing for 1000+ people.

I'll have you know I live in WA myself so sounds good to me... although our hard border closures might make getting the players in difficult.

If the AFL acts quick they can get everyone in by midnight tomorrow.

Yeah but Western Australia has a massive border. Would anyone really notice if the entire AFL competition slipped over state lines?

If this is to happen (which I don’t think will, but who knows what might happen in June) I’d suggest dividing the comp into conferences of 4 and 5 teams.

Each conference isolates and plays against the others in their conference.

Have a break, rotate the teams in the conferences and repeat.

The oval at Queenstown would be ideal.

Yeah but you’d have an explosion in gonorrhoea cases.

Like a Giligan’s Island 2020 AFL Season

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful season,
that started from this tropic port,
aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
the Skipper brave and sure,
18 clubs set sail that day,
for four sixteen minute quarters,
for four sixteen minute quarters.

The Covid-19 started getting rough,
the tiny AFL was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
the 2020 season would be lost.
The 2020 season would be lost.

The scope for cross-sport interaction is very real. Just consider this synopsis of one of the TV movie sequels:

In a second sequel, The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island (1981), villains played by Martin Landau and then-wife Barbara Bain try to take over the island to gain access to a vein of "supremium", a valuable but volatile fictional element. They are thwarted by the timely intervention of the Harlem Globetrotters.

They don't make 'en like that anymore!

Crown casino perth has 1188 rooms. You could hard barricade the place off, even staff could be part of the lock in.
Players-staff only be involved if they volunteer.
Test them before they get in the plane.
Use optus, Claremont, south freo, joondalup, lathlain ovals. Busing teams in & out.
Lock down the media & tech crews.
Shorten the season & the quarters. 2 games a week.

Sounds like a plan. But use optus only

Does it?

As of 3/04:
Victoria has 1,036 cases (The Equivalent of 16.37 cases per 1,000 people)
Western Australia has 400 cases (The Equivalent of 16.04 cases per 1,000 people)

Don't forget tje Aliens who land on the island at the same time, and can only be defeated by beating them in a game if basketball (what a lucky coincidence the Globetrotters are there!).

Here's the trailer (Mary Anne and Ginger doing aerobics at 0.33 for the serious devotees)

Oh Dude, I haven't forgotten. It's seared into my mind for all time. Martin Landau is a superb actor - an Oscar winner in fact - but boy he must have been struggling to pay the rent!
