The plus side is that you don't have to scramble for VOG this week as it is Crota to begin with.

Tips for leveling up depend on how many resources you have amassed over the years. Have a lot of motes or old Ascendant/Radiant materials? You're in luck, start pumping motes into your favourite FWC/DO/NM vendor at your highest light level and get some faction packages to help boost your light. Pick armour or weapons depending on which side needs light more at the time and hopefully RNG will start propping you up. If you have exotic engrams use them sporadically to boost an area which has fallen behind. EG all of your armour is 370 but your boots are 361, that's the time to pop a boot engram as it will likely be 375ish.

Eventually you'll get to a point where your artifact is your weakest option. This is where you'll need a skeleton key (you can get one grinding strikes or from completing the Nightfall). You run a SIVA strike until the end, pop the chest at max light and you should get a higher light blue artifact along with your legendary reward. Then you can continue with the faction package leveling if you have the resourses.

If you don't have any of these things then you'll need stuff that drops a lot of blues quickly to get your light up quickly. But the above is mostly how I bridged the game from 365 > 385 during the initial ROI drop.

Cheers. I think I've got a truckload of motes in my bank but burned through my ascendant and radiant shards for faction rep back when I couldn't use them to upgrade gear any more. So I'll have a look into that tonight. Damn artifact was already holding me back until I got lucky from a skeleton chest last night where a 361 one dropped, so hopefully that tides me over for a while. Besides that have been doing the rest of the recommendations so I'll just keep at the grind :thumbsu:

Apart from Iron Banner, the most efficient way to up your light level is to grind strikes, as they're purely match-made. The WoTM raid will drop gear at up to 385 light (normal mode) and up to 400 light (hard mode).

Legendary engrams drop weapons and armour up to 385 light level, but strikes also reward you with blue items up to 385 light level. Speed run as many of the strikes as you can to max out your slots, which will leave you with the artifact.

The alternative method for raising the artifact light level is to grind Archon's Forge. Ideally, if you can get a fireteam of three, you can run Archon's Forge for at least an hour and hopefully during that time (as it is governed by RNG) you'll get a higher light level artifact and ghost.

Last but not least, pop 3oCs at the start of each strike (except for the Will of Crota and the Psion Flayers strikes because 3oCs don't work on the bosses for those strikes) and hoard the exotic engrams that drop. Once you hit 390 light level, in addition to Iron Banner, exotic engrams will decrypt up to 400 light level.

If you don't mind some PVP, you can run Crucible as there are random legendary drops at the end of each match that should increase your overall light level. Don't run private matches as only blues will drop in private matches.

I'm not sure whether we're friends on the PSN. Send me a friend request at McCoyPauley78 and I'll run some strikes with you.

Can you still get drops from Court of Oryx?

You can, but they are capped at 335 light, even for the Tier 3 boss. The last time I ran the Court of Oryx about a month ago I was routinely getting drops in the mid-240 light level range.

The key is saving skeleton keys for when your artifact is low. When it is a lot lower than everything else the chest normally gives you one. But keys are a product of RNG so it's an annoying process. You can also time the strike for something else you want, like if you need a helmet you can do the Malok strike as that only drops a helm or a special weapon do the Archon Priest reborn one.

This is the last bit of content so you may as well use all those motes you've got as you can't take them with you to D2.

Let the grinding and pissing contest begin. :thumbsu: Handy that half of the new book is completed off the bat. Although fair bit of fluff in there for the story missions.

New raid gear looks the best of what they've produced so far IMO.

Using above tips I made it to 367 before running out of motes and shards and could only squeeze in a couple strikes before they took them down in preparation for new patch. Probably should have stuck to armour packages, had zero luck with the weapon ones as was almost always same or lower light level stuff. All good though as I feel like it's within reach more so than when I was only 350. I know it's a late push right at the death knell of this game but I can do it

I'll run a few strikes etc with you. Iron Banner should be just around the corner so that should help your light level power up. Bang out a raid or two and voila.

You'll be fine. Just grind for marks now. Vendor items have been buffed to 380 light.

Anyone that wants a decent hand cannon, pick up the Palindrome this week from the Crucible Quartermaster. Rolled Truesight, Icarus, Rifled Barrel and Rangefinder. You can also select explosive rounds instead of rifled barrel, so it's very good in PVE (at the right range, you can OHK the shanks at Vosik and Aksis).

The FWC vendor Wormwood is also very good this week, but I'm still grinding my New Monarchy rep in order to get to rank 25 and tick off that page in the Age of Triumphs record book, plus I now prefer my old Ironwreath-D because with appended mag I spawn in with 18 rounds in the magazine each time.

If you want the wormwood roll. Just wait until just before weekly reset and switch to FWC so you can buy the sidearm. Then once weekly reset rolls over you can switch back to New Monarchy straight away.

Or just buy it on an alt character if you've got them.

Decided to save my exotics and skeletan keys for the high 390's. Hit 396 and cashed in all my exotic engrams. I'm finally 399! All I need is a 400 ghost and I'm at 400.

I gave the first part of the Crota challenge a go and I got the rocket launcher so I'm happy with that.

If a ghost is all you need, head over to Archon's Forge. They drop quite regularly.
