Training Developing Guns!

I think O'Brien will take a big step up next season. Once he has developed the confidence and belief he belongs I think he will shine.

Can we have a moratorium on the use of the word 'guns' as it relates to player's ability, until at least the end of the year.

It's kind of fingers down your throat stuff, and it's not like we don't have the word stars, champions, elite, A-grader etc. to draw on.

Burton, Lovell, Sicily, O'Brien, Brand, Howe and JOR are the ones I expect to see quite a lot more of, and in particular I'm really looking forward to seeing how Burton, Lovell and Brand go.

If we get 15+ games from each of those listed above it will be a great developmental year for the list, and when you add Mitchell and O'Meara it is really going to provide us with a good idea of just where we might be in another 24 months.

Miles, Hardwick, Stewart and Heatherley are also a fair chance to play a handful of games, and I'm really looking forward to seeing Miles, if only he can put on a bit of size.

I'm calling it early, Nash will be our breakout gun in 2018.
I agree with you Nugett. I first saw Conor Nash when he played a quarter in the JLT pre-season games and I was immediately impressed by him, considering his limited experience with Aussie Rules. I think we might have a real gem here. Someone 197cms who can move as quickly as he does is like manna from heaven. From reading this forum it seems Thaihawk picked Nash, along with another great prospect in Conor Glass, early on as well. I hope, nay believe, that we will all be proven correct.

Living in Queensland, I don't have the opportunity to watch potential development of players.
But reading articles and watching him in interviews, he seems to have a real composure to him. I think this year, he is a little bit too green, to break into the side, but think that he has the intelligence to learn the game and the drive to succeed for next year. I think in 2 years, he will be the perfect Gibson replacement.
I too also have high hopes for Glass, heard Sammy last year saying what a great prospect he was. Think Sam has the credibility to be proven correct, as in my opinion Sam has the greatest footy brain in the competition.

I sure did like him the moment I read that he was extremely athletic, fast, and had had experience with both shaped balls. I posted in another thread that I would like our half back line to be 66% Irish.

Looking forward to seeing:

HB: Glass - Brand - Stratton
FB: Hardwick - Nash - Burton

And I'm looking forward to the return of the timid Porkings when he realizes we have finally replaced Lake with someone (not Stratts) who he is a little afraid to bully.

Clarko should instruct Stratton to give Porkins a wedgie randomly through out the match, as well as snapping his man bra. It may not be effective, but sure would be entertaining to watch.
