What if the Bombers had of played 2 good quarters instead of 1?

We have met a lot of teams down on their day this year.....so where do we actually stand?

Who cares about the quality of the game, the fact is when the pressure was on and Essendon were on a roll we stood up and resisted it. We could have rolled over like we did against St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs but we found another gear and pulled away.

That in itself cancels out any negatives you could find in the win.

Nothing like a win to please the masses, but if you think that last night showed we are a good side at the moment then you're sadly mistaken. We beat no-one last night and Essendon's 1 good quarter of footy showed how badly we were really playing.

We were made to look good simply because they looked so bad. In fact we had more clangers last night than the Bombers, which against any other team would have resulted in a thumping. The difference between us and the Bombers in the end is we made the most of our chances when inside 50.

So while it is great to finally have a win after a month without one, lets not kid ourselves and start pretending like we are one of the better sides in the competition who has been unlucky in terms of losing games. Lets just wake up to the fact we're still a developing team who has played some very good footy in the last few weeks but still has a long way to go to become a real contender.

But what you have to remember is that last year we were that "nothing" that is now essendon, so at least we are showing we have moved on. And we are also proving that we are no longer a bottom 4 team as we have clearly shown we are a lot better than freo and essendon. so if we win all the games we should and maybe 1 or 2 upsets we could win 10-11 games for they year and possibly scrape into finals if the cats and hawks keep winning. For us to be a chance to make finals is a huge step forward in itself and we should be happy that we are good eough to play badly and still win games

Last week against the Cats we had less possessions that them and made the same number of errors. If we were playing a top side last night and played the way we did, we would have been smacked. It was only the Bombers making more critical errors that allowed us to get away to a lead they couldn't reel in. We play that crap against the Swans and they'll tear us a new one.

These are the sort of wins I hate as a Tigers fan, because it gives some a false sense of belief that the side is better than it actually is. Comparing last night to the previous 4 weeks is like comparing apples and oranges. The previous 4 weeks had been very good but last night we got lucky that we had our off game against a poor team.

You're right the first half was far from average, in fact it was poor, we only looked good bacause the Bombers were absolutely woeful. When they pulled their fingers out and started playing footy they made us look second rate in the third quarter.

So while it is good to have a win, I really wish some people would open there eyes and see what really went on last night, because if we offer that up against good teams we will get smacked.

Yeah they slotted them from the boundary in the second half, but had they kicked the easy ones that they missed in the first half when they kicked 2.6, they may have gone into half time with 5.3. instead.

That was where we won the game with our ability to convert in the first half when they couldn't.

im not happy with a 39 point win against what was the worst half of footy iv just abt ever seen from a side. Bombers are really really REALLY bad, dont pat each other on the back anything less than a 15 goal drubbing against these pretenders is as good as a loss in my book.

I think most of us realise we are far from one of the best sides in the comp. But we're no longer a bottom four side, so we're happy to be improving. The third quarter last night was pretty poor, but we also couldn't get a break from the umpires during that "comeback" which made it look worse than it was.
