If Pick 11 goes in the dealings for both, so probably does the very good chance of getting Charlie Constable or Hunter Clarke. 2 big bodied mids who are ready to plug and play and grow with the rest of your very good young core.

Instead you're tinkering with more flankers that you've got aplenty.

I see Kennedy being at best a B grade player, maybe a C grade player at worst. I don't see him as being a crucial pick up given that players of that quality are a dime a dozen in the draft, where we have taken several. I don't understand why he is now being spoken of as an elite talent that we needed to bring in.

Smith well and truly has the potential to be elite, as would Stringer if he comes. Both of them add more to the team than you or others seem to understand.

whilst I love the boy, who's to say both those guys aren't going to be another David Myers?

There's risk in everything. Stringer could be a ****ing shemozzle. Who knows? But I'm happy to bring in low risk high reward options and see what happens. Plus, we all get to watch Dodo pull on the superman jackets and do his thing! What's not to like??

Yeah well we got marchbank last year and now Kennedy...apparently close to getting rockliff and Smith despite a low ladder finish...expect things to improve in the next few years.

Still haven't given up on saad though...sure would sting to see two of our targets in Smith and saad choose essendon!

Apparently you were into Kennedy as well so it's currently 1-1 Carlton and essendon. Saad to be the tiebreaker!

Richmond winning the flag was great I was there cheering you on, not sure what that has to do with you flipping the **** out here though.

The posts I've been replying to are posts saying we are stupid for going for these players. With posters saying we have no need for them, when the fact is they replace far lessor players and make us stronger.

It's all well and good to say we should be getting inside mids, I agree that is our biggest weakness, but while it's fine to say we should be focusing on that, the reality is there aren't any appropriate players available.

Dodoro didn't want Rockliff due to age, and while I'm sure he was keen on Kennedy he has nominated Carlton.

For years we have been the butt of jokes about never landing players, now it seems the tide turning and some posters (not saying you, don't flip out again) on here are shitty they can't make their annual jokes about Essendon during trade time.

Getting Smith and Stringer makes us a stronger team, it doesn't fill our midfield weakness, but it does make us a stronger team. Isn't that what trading is all about?

as i clearly said in earlier replies, both these guys make your team better

not sure why everytime someone questions something essendon is doing its automatically being "salty" and "getting angry" though lol

i dont get the notion that rockliff is "too old" at 27 when a couple of your key players are almost at that age or even older (hooker, hurley, heppell, goddard). Granted you have a fairly young list and some bright up and comers, but i would argue that your time is most definitely approaching now and rockliff would fit in beautifully, in the same way prestia/caddy have for us

also never really seen the butt of jokes thing, sounds like the old richmond "world is against us" mentality

I think everyone agrees 15-25 is about right for Stringer and 25-40 is about right for Smith

I think we will do a trade with a club like the Suns or even yourselves to move our #11 into the 15-20 range and get a second in the 25-40 range.

We will trade the late first rounder for Stringer and one of the 2nd rounders for Smith leaving us with a second rounder in the draft.

There are strong rumours of a third player landing as well but we will see how that plays out.

Not everyone agrees. That's probs unders for Stringer and definitely unders for Smith. Will cost you more than that to get both.
