Great trading by Essendon just 12 months ago then.
Absolutely. He was an upgrade on our VFL players.

Great trading by Essendon just 12 months ago then.
The two second round picks Essendon have received are Collingwood's 2017 2nd (24) and GWS' 2018 second.Anyone confirming it's 2 picks and both are this year?
Afl.com only mentioned 24
Smith, 24 and 26 for 11 is pretty good for us

I'm looking forward to you digging up the details of that "trade".
Poor selection of words perhaps. Odd pickup twelve months ago.
Anyway off topic. I dont think teh small forward department is Essendons biggest hole so it will be interesting to see what the do with Smith. But on trade value they have done ok.
You do realise that we got Green as a delisted player right? Meaning we gave nothing for him?Great trading by Essendon just 12 months ago then.
he played 17 games!Poor selection of words perhaps. Odd pickup twelve months ago.

Everyone keeps saying this, and most Bomber fans know we need bigger midfielders, but can someone please point out the big bodied midfielders that are currently on the trade table. You cannot do more then bringing in the best available talent thats available for trade, and it would be remiss of the club to just sit on their hands and wait for the player that fills their needs.Good trade for Essendon. Although I still wonder if Smith is the type of player that fills a need for them.
thats not a loss .. hampton is still firmly in our best when fit... hes just been to injured.Big win for Essendon. Clubs must love dealing with GWS. Think the Crows are the only team to have gone even or lost in a trade with GWS so far (2nd rounder for Hampton).
Pretty much this. Not unhappy with this trade. We trade up into the first round and move a player who was on our fringes.
Fisting the Western Bulldogs in the process is the icing on the cake.

Yep will struggle to get Stringer now. But will be very happy with Smith and potentially Saad.Good get.
Pick 24 would prob get Saad, but not Stringer.

C'mon mate please. You do realise that Essendon are very well known to be the worst club to try and deal with.Wins all round there I think.
Smith got to club of choice, GWS gets dealt back in to the 1st round, Essendon now has four second round picks to play with.
That's how trading should work when clubs aren't acting like sobbing emotional toddlers.

They get one deal done and all of a sudden they are the benchmark of how things should get done.
Reel it in a bit fella![]()
Interest in smith ramps up. Lands better deal than originally proposed![]()
"Dodoro, you diabolical......"

Interest in saad ramps up....watch this space
The lack of interest in stringer doesn't bode well for the dogs
Sorry, I didn't realise that you were at the trade table with them, here I was going by the opinions of those in the know.Welcome to 2007 - I hear Buckenara is still tryine to peddle that shit as well; Essendon are a very pleasant club to deal with trade wise.
Actually they've been getting deals done for years now with a minimum of fuss - the only two I can recall being majorly difficult were both the fault of the other trading party, Saints with Carlisle, and GC with Caddy.
