Adcock by far the best of he options available. Proven leader, beautiful kick of the footy, versatile. He'll accelerate the development of those in the VFL squad and be able to fill-in in multiple roles in the seniors at short notice.

I also think we should re-select Sam Dwyer. He's another beautiful user of the footy and perfect depth player. I think we cut him prematurely and given how far our draft picks have slid (other than our one 2nd rounder) he's more useful than anything that we'll find at the back end of the draft. Besides, we have more than enough youth in development already.

Have to admit I don't get the love for Adcock, statistically on a par with Blair, just can't see what more he brings. I think people's opinions are heavily flavoured by his last game. Does add to our penis reference player names I suppose and given we've lost Wood, Ball, Dick over recent seasons that could always be bolstered.

Id definitely take Pears and Adcock.

I think a change of environment in a backline with premiership players could really help Pears get back to what he promised earlier in his career.

edit: Holy shit Pears is only 25?! Yeah we need to be picking him up. Like yesterday.

When Pears was a regular in the AFL there was a stat that he conceded the most goals out of every player in the AFL.

The guy is completely horrendous

As I said though, in his first 2 or 3 years he showed a LOT of promise. Maybe the drug thing got to him? Maybe he just didn't get along well with key people which stunted his development?

If he's costing you effectively nothing and you NEED to fill list spots, then why not add a 25 year old defender with senior AFL experience as depth? I'd be shocked if he's worse than Frost. I remember watching Pears when he first started and thinking he could be anything. I liked him.

With 8 senior players out & 3 in we still must add at least 3 more players to bring our senior list to 38 (including Frost upgrade).
If we draft with picks 27 & 66 (use 77 to upgrade Frost).
We can add a Delisted Free Agent.
Who?
Grant, Adcock, Stokes, Kelly, Jamar, Dempsey, Pears.
I like Grant or Adcock.
At this stage we should be looking for some solid bodies to protect the young talent in the clinches....and stop side like the Hawks who like to use a bit of unsociable footy to nobble the opposition.
Another Leigh Brown type would be excellent.

Adcock, Pears and Dempsey should be guys we look to add, though Dempsey no realistic chance for us.

Jamar on the rookie list.

Dempsey probably ends up at freo

They can stand up for themselves. Was it Elliott or Adams that collected Mitchell from behind when we played them?

I've been on the Adcock train since Brisbane told him they wouldn't be renewing his contract. Not only do I think he can still play, I think his experience as a senior player and ex-captain would be a great addition. Also, spending majority of his career across half back might just help with the development of our young defenders in particular Scharenberg, Maynard, Langdon etc.

Thx. First time I saw a bit of mongrel in Billy that night. Or was it frustration. We held our own against the bullies that night.

Nah not for mine. Turns 30 next month and plays a position that we have good coverage in (HBF).

What's the story with DFAs? Can we sign them at anytime of does it have to happen via a draft pick?

No, you can just sign them during any of the three "signing windows". First one opens on the 31st and shuts close of business the following Monday.

I happened to watch Jamar play a VFL game late in the season and there is no way he can go on. He can't run anymore.... literally immobile.

I wouldn't mind picking up Adcock personally. I have always been a fan but i can't see it happening. The club is all in on the next generation and i think they will opt to go much younger. However he could really help out Langdon and Scharenberg in terms of development.

I have been saying since the start of the season we should go after Mitch Brown. He is a seriously good player who suffered from some bad injuries at Geelong. He has shown an ability to play either end of the ground and even up on the wing. He is better than White and could easily slot into our forward line with Cloke and Moore as tall targets. He should be a priority IMO but other clubs will be interested.

I think Mitch Brown or Michael Hartley are worth a look from the VFL with a few Williamstown boys making in roads, could be worth taking a punt on then. As far as delistees go id say Adcock, Woodward and Mason Shaw all as maybe with to surprise nomination of Rowen Powell from the Eagles. Powell will be a bit of a project player but just from watching him play he has a lot of Jack Gunston in him.

Jarred Grant for me. Attitude is his downfall- you only need to look at how skinny he still is to know he does not put the work in. Interview him and get a sense of whether the delisting has shocked him into the possibility of working hard.

Outside of attitude he has what we need- run and pace. A switched on Grant with Howe on the other wing gives us the run we need across the centre. A big risk but at least a chat to him to get a sense of where he us at.

All the others really do not provide anything we need. If he can move towards an AFL mindset he does.

Grant will get snatched up pretty quickly same with Adcock.

Should be looking at someone in the lower leagues around 22-26, get a proper AFL preseason into them and see what we can do.

I'd lean toward Mitch Brown or Spencer White, someone who could be a real asset if they pan out. I don't think picking up Adcock would help us much, just stifle someone like Ramsay's development.

Has Spencer White shown anything at VFL level? I fear he is all potential and that's where it ends.

It would be sweet to recruit Adcock.
