Hey Walshy,

In the thread "watch out Essendon" you said that Diatribe would win the Caulfield Cup. Well done on picking the winner dude! I picked Fairway to win!

Gambling the Quick and Easy Way to Make A Living!

Regulars on Nick's Page will know that the great Joffa tipped Diatribe to anyone who would listen yesterday.

I didn't back it myself because I don't bet any more. But good luck to those who did.

But Mags. If you really think punting is an easy way to make a living I might have to have a quiet word with you. Believe me, many have tried ... and very, very few have succeeded.

But while on the subject of racing, Australia's greatest horse race will be run next week at Moonee Valley. At this stage the Cox Plate is shaping up as a battle between Collingwood and the All-Blacks.

The local champ, Sky Heights, owned by Collingwood Football Club board member, Jack Kennedy, takes on one of the greatest race-mares ever to look through a bridle, the New Zealander, Sunline.

Dr.Kennedy's horse is in superb form, having won brilliantly at Caulfield last start. But Sunline is an absolute champion who won last year's Cox Plate brilliantly. It promises to be a great battle.

I lean slightly to Sky Heights.

I backed Diatribe myself, infact it was the only win I had for the day. Had been watching it over the past few weeks and had noticed it had been running on well in the latter stages of shorter distance races.

Don't disregard it for the Cox Plate on Sat. It has pulled up very well from all reports.
Just a pity "Pumper" isn't riding him again this week.

Hard luck story?
Was helping a mate shift house on Saturday, we called into the pub for him to put his quaddy on.... offered me a 1/2 share in it, he had multiple legs and the cost for a $1 quaddie was about $80.... having just come back from holidays and blown the budget, I had to knock him back.
Well as you can guess, we spent the day shifting, knocking back tinnies and listening to his first 3 legs come in. He was a bit worried having only 2 in the last leg, Miss Pennymoney and Camena (who he knew nothing about, but a bloke at work tipped it). Wasn't feeling too good when Miss P was scratched at the gate.... 5 minutes later..you know the rest. He picked up a cool $2800 odd and me...well at least he shouted me grog for the night!
