I actually thought they were decent selections. Would have liked to keep Griff in instead of Aaron Edwards but he'll get another shot. Arnott needs more time, he'll make it soon enough. Grimes has fallen off a cliff and was the obvious head on the chopping block.

Arnot, Griffiths and Grimes were all pretty worth of the axe, and Petterd looks to be the other out - with him, Stephenson and Thomas the emergencies.
Newman/Grigg/S. Edwards would be the remaining three people have queries over but we are playing Geelong and the kids won't be good enough to do the job - I know people think that's a cop out, but experience will be required this week.
Play the kids after the bye - Melb/GWS

Vickery -> Griffiths
A. Edwards -> Arnot
Deledio -> Petterd
Rance -> Grimes.

Wait til we see the final squad but if Thomas and A Edwards play then all hope will be gone.

Don't think Thommo will play, but Azza will add something I reckon.
Plus you and I picked him for first goal, not a bad start.
;)

Haha I don't mind Edwards but I don't see why we are playing him. Develop Griff.

Agree on Griff, and he is developing.
But Vickery is ahead of him, based on past deeds.
That's just the lay of the land.

Dimma said he isn't reverting back to 3 talls just yet. Vickery won't play if he wasn't lying. But we can't not play him or Griff cause Hampson needs a chop out. So suddenly we want Vickery doing ruck work again?

Not sure what you mean, but come Sunday dark, it will become clearer what we've got, and what we need.

It's clear to most. ;)

Soooo many recycled players in our team

no probs with selections from me as good and bad luck can be put down to team balance, pretty simple really put in a good performance that your coach has assigned you/ and/or be in the best 10 players on the ground and youll be right, anything else is not gunna get us to a grand final so you are vulnerable.

Sorry for intruding but as an outsider edwards always appears to make your fwd line look more potent.
Also agree he is not an investment in the future tho.
I actually think this game will be a cracker and you'll go very very close to causing a big upset.

When a side is picked on merit, then I'd see Dimma in a different light.

Happy with Lids, Rance and Azza coming in

Very annoyed that Griffiths, Arnot and Grimes were dropped when clearly it is well overdue to see Grigg and Edwards play at VFL level. Vickery didn't set the VFL on fire so I can't see how Dimma can get so excited about his return.

Another Dimma blunder. I just wish he and the Match Committee had the courage to pick a side based on merit, rather than passengers.

Petterd-shit kick, shit composure, hard at it
Grigg-average kick, good composure, soft
Morris-average kick, average composure, hard at it

If you can't be good in 2 departments you should be depth player at best. If you are only good in 1 department you shouldn't be playing afl

They are the players we rely on to bring the ball out of defence half the time lol

For mine a resounding YES. But I think the coaching staff, match committee and probably even our vaunted recruiters are trying to salvage not only the season but their reputations a little bit. All the usual suspects have held their spots.

In fairness, Griff going out I don't really mind. For mine he's been one of the few positives thus far this season, he's had a taste and should be confident now that he can play at the top level, but he definitely needs to go back a grade and learn how to play as a leading forward again, he just doesn't run to the right spots. Playing in Coburg's backline all last year didn't help, Tim Clarke should plonk him at FF and let him re-learn what the club has spent 3 years trying to train out of him (remember we played Jay Shultz at CHB as well).

Grimes is stiff. Yes he's playing poorly but Chaplin has gone close to worst on ground in every game I've seen and with Rance coming back in I think a combination of Rance, Astbury, Grimes would be infinitely better than what we're going with this week.

Actually I note that all the "moneyball" recruits hold their spot, and you could make a case for dropping every single one of them, with maybe the exception of Petterd, who much to everyone's chagrin has been one of our best on the year.

For mine the outs should have read something like: Out: Newman, Morris (clearly severely injured), Houli, Grigg, Chaplin, Edwards, Hampson*.

*If only Vickery was a ruckmans' a**hole, what did we recruit him for again? Oh that's right, so that we were able to use a 2 x Coleman medalist as a full time decoy :rolleyes:

Agree with the rest, but Grigg's kicking and composure would have to be nearly the worst in the league.

The standard Grigg possession goes something like: Get (receive, not win) the ball, run in a circle, wait for the opposition defence to get down the field, wait some more, floating 40m helicopter kick to no-one.

1.Griffiths and Arnott aren't superstars ,
2. There are others who should have been dropped first but not 10 .
3. Recycled players can only take you so far , especially those that other clubs don't want .
4. Grigg closer to Dimmas Sanchez. .
5. Has he stuffed up at the selection , yes.

In Rance - so one of Grimes, Astbury or Chaplin had to go. Fair enough, Grimes was easy picking, but wished he was still in the side.
In Lids - named HF rotate mids, so sorry to Arnott, but that was his role last week. He will get his chance again.
In A Edwards - leading link up fwd option and played well in the VFL, out Petterd (named in the VFL, so I am guessing that RP is out). No problems with this move.
In Vickery - out Griff, this move stinks it up big time.
Thomas and Big O named in the VFL and hopefully it stays that way. Hopefully leaving Llyod, Gordon, Vlaus, McDon in the 22.
