One Thing that has always intrigued me is why Sam Newman is regularly introduced on Show since 1994 as the 303 game champion from Geelong and other times as the 300 game champion.
Even in the interview with Mike Sheehan the other night on Open Mike he talked about playing 303 games for Geelong.
Yet the AFL Season Guide has always listed him as having played 300 games. In the 2012 Guide on page 652 it has 300 premiership games + 4 night games + 8 state games.
The 6th edition of encyclopedia of AFL footballers by Russell Holmesby and Jim Main have it as 300.
The AFL tables site that most of us use, has that he played his 300th and last game in the semi final against Richmond in 1980.

I vaguely remember him running through a banner that had 300 games on it - but I can't remember if it was that game against Richmond.
Anyone know why there is a discrepancy of 3 games?
Is it 300 premiership games + night series games which according to the AFL records is 304 and not 303 always says? Is it as simple as that?
