What a ridiculous over-analysis of a split-second decision. You don't anticipate the ball will bounce awkwardly.
He didn't have to anticipate the bounce of the ball, it bounced two meters away, plenty of time to see it coming

Look at this photo and see how far the ball is coming from compared with how little Milne moves..

I hate Ross Lyon's style and have been bagging him for years. But it's funny to think that this one bounce of a football cost St Kilda a thrilling premiership victory - a victory that would put Lyon down forever in the histiry books as a premiership coach.

It would be considered one of the greatest grand finals of all time. St Kilda trail, Goddard takes a speccy and puts them in front, Collingwood get back in front, but Milney runs into an open goal and kicks the winning goal.

Arguably Milne cost the Saints in 09. Late 4Q Scores level, he is running into an unguarded goal and he grubs the ball along the ground for a point. Had he kicked the goal and broken the deadlock, who knows? Momentum is a funny thing in football

The ball was moving way too fast off both bounces, and awkwardly, it literally needed to just bounce right through to goal...

Milne was outdone by the speed of the ball and the angles..

I'm able to appreciate the tiprat now but if he'd have kicked the winning goal that day I'm sure I'd have done something incredibly dumb in a fit of fury. the bounce of that ball is the only thing that's genuinely felt like it was in slow motion watching live

You can put Schnieder in with him as well.

This is proof positive that St Kilda are cursed. I'm not sure how you could setup a more heartbreaking scenario than the 2010 drawn GF and replay after years of getting so close so many times. The year before they just lose to Geelong with very similar scores. In 97 getting steamrolled by Jarman in a last quarter effort. Unbelievable that without that single point in 1966 St Kilda, 120 year old team in the VFL/AFL, would STILL be without a flag. Saints fans know it all too well...
