His ball skills are poor but it was the right decision to get inside players
Cotchin and Martin are shining because of it

Wonder if they should have kept their powder dry and maybe snagged a cheap GWS inside player.
They already did with miles and Townsend.

But I look at the Prestia deal as they wouldn't have caddy without him

It's a pity that points are completely irrelevant given you had no use for them. It's just a nice way to make yourself feel better about the trade.

Instead of some imaginary nonsense scenario where you had the choice between Caddy + Prestia or Mcluggage, why don't you just talk about what you gave away in real terms for them? Pick 6 (Scrimshaw) and your 2017 second is much simpler and actually reflects what you gave up.
Points put it in a format that is simple to understand and compare. You know, rather than use bias or vindictive attitudes that others are going with

I'm very happy with the trade, he's a gun

Gold Coast players are always buyer beware with their horrid injury management.

Though Josh Caddy got out early and he still isn't very good.
They are a strange bunch up there.

Mav Weller delisted - now in St Kilda's leadership group
Henry Schade delisted - now a key defender at the Pies

High profile expensive trade outs:-

Charlie Dixon
JOM (at least based on current output)
Prestia
Caddy
Hickey (full price paid for him - Pick 13 for Hickey and pick 26)

Just think they aren't greatest bunch to trade with, unless picking someone cheap...

Yup big mistake. Thankfully Cotchin and Martin have lifted to another level otherwise we'd be 1-5 like we were last year before Prestia came in and freed up the pressure on Cotchin and Martin.

Obviously an over-simplification, but a semi-fit Prestia is making a big difference to the on-field dynamic of the team.

No mistake made.

Yeah and I guess Miles was good for them in the first season and helped them into finals.
Nothing wrong with trading for Prestia though
He's a sure thing. Pick 6 could be a kid that never plays a game

Good pick-up, I guess with his skills he isn't worth pick 6 but it's not a huge stretch. He'll be their 3rd best mid for the next 5-6 years when fit, can't write him off based on 1 month.

I think the Richmond's turn around is due more to the recruitment of a couple of assistants that can actually coach rather than a slow plodder with terrible skills.
Replace Prestia with whoever you would of got for pick 6 and you would still be in the position you are now IMO

Would rather take the risk to draft a star at 6 than get a sure thing that is pretty meh

Must be dropped/rested this week if the club is fair dinkum. In a poor team performance, Prestia's was the poorest. Miles can provide what Prestia does now, and more.

Looked good R1 but struggled since, which is not too surprising given he is hardly able to train during the week. Some suggestion that Gold Coast flogged their players early on hard grounds which is why Prestia, O'Meara and others have problems.

Only 24 so rest him and get him right, even if he needs the year off.

Its a pity they traded for Prestia we like trading with Richmond too... Hampson and Yarran being two standouts.

Please don't stop trading with us leave all other clubs alone. Remember you always want to rip us a new one and win in all trades.
Think we won the Grigg/Andy Collins trade wouldnt you say?

Imaginary nonsense? How about the three boom recruits for the Pies. Clean up your own backyard before sniping in our neck of the woods. Nothing these blokes do short of catapulting your team into the eight can hide these disastrous trades to Eddiewood. You also sold the farm for Treloar and now the cupboard is bare! One win and your back on your soapbox complaining about five day breaks. Tiges 5-1. Happy compared to your 2-4. Prestia will come good - Wells Dunn Mayne will have retired before we can judge this trade.

Interesting that you took that post to be some sort of snipe at your recruitment when I never actually offered an opinion. All I said was that using points to create some imaginary scenario where you guys had the choice between Mcluggage or Prestia+Caddy didn't accurately reflect the cost. Yes, it reeks of an attempt to justify the cost paid. Do I personally think the cost was to high? It looks that way currently, but 6 games is too small a sample size to make a call like that.

Calm your shit and stop mouthing off. Your post reeks of bitterness over missing out on Treloar and shows a complete ignorance of where Collingwood's list is actually at. Concentrate on what the thread is actually about rather than trying to turn this in to a Collingwood vs Richmond dick measuring contest, yeah?

Also the inclusion of Nankervis and the mosquito fleet up forward.

All you had to do was actually read my post properly. The 'BS' was perfectly valid and in response to a specific imaginary scenario made up by another poster. Stop acting like I'm the one getting upset when you were the one who lost their shit and went on the attack in the first place.

Prestia has been an integral part of the tiger resurgence this year, but definitely overpaid for him, that's obvious to blind freddy, GC even came out and said they were playing ultra-hard ball with anyone coming for their players.

I've no idea what went down, but I imagine the tiges made a committment to Prestia to get him away from the gold coast early last year, then ended up with pick 6 instead of the pick 10-14 they'd have expected, then maybe just lacked the desperation in the trade period to get a pick exchange, or the balls to pull out and say 'too expensive'. Later events helped to make this trade look slightly better.

Drafting/recruiting at Richmond has been horrible in the last 7 years, Prestia trade is actually a bright light and I hope we are moving in a better direction now. Next draft has to be nailed, and talls only.

Just to inform the thread a bit...

The trade was:

Prestia and pick 24
for
Pick 6 and Richmonds 2017 2nd rounder.

So really, a bit less than pick 6, how much less depends on where Richmond end up.

nb. Pick 24 (+64) was then traded to Geelong for Caddy+56.

So ultimately, Richmond traded 6 (Scrimshaw-GC), 64 (Narkle-Geel) & 2017 2nd(???) for Prestia, Caddy & 56 (Jack Graham).

If you want to compare him to O'Meara - who still hasn't set the world on fire himself - Prestia has been shit if you consider that Prestia is a year older, has played 4 more seasons than JOM, and doesn't have the excuse that's he has missed all of the last 2 seasons (although he has had his own issues). Gets slightly less of the ball compared to JOM (and that includes the game where JOM spent much of the game rested in a forward line that barely saw the ball after receiving his now infamous 'knee knock', and JOM hasn't played in a winning side yet). Prestia also gets more of his possessions from uncontested sources, and despite that, has lower disposal efficiency compared to JOM. Prestia is at least kicking it more than JOM, which is probably why he gets 1 more inside 50 than JOM per game. They've both been equally shit with their shots on goal with 1 goals 3 behinds each, although Prestia has played two more games to get his single goal. Of course Tigers paid less for him than we did for JOM, but based on what we've seen so far, I think it is fair to say JOM has much more upside.
