'Did Collingwood deserve to be in the GF when they weren't even amongst the top 3 sides for the majority of the year?'.

makes no difference where you finish H&A. good sides rise in finals pressure...teams like port cant, or at least havent yet. adelaide showed how good they were coming from 4-5 in their flag years. pies beat port in adelaide, adelaide in melb(although the crows did have to travel the previous months). pies deserved to be there - brissy deserved to win it.
