so where have they all been hiding? It's not like you see them frolicking around when you drive through the country. But it's still good news anyway.

northern territory. along with bloody buffaloes of all things!!

The camels are left over from when Afghans were the only way of getting stuff from Adelaide to Darwin and Alice Springs. THey have been breeding in the interior of Australia for about 150 years now.

go to the Northern territory. Aint been there myself but have a friend who has. Cant drive 3-4 km's without coming across one apparently! They are rampant in the deserts of Aus

We used to sell camels back to Saudi Arabia at one point - don't know if we still do. Camel meat (and kangaroo) is a bit tough for my liking, but crocodile and emu I find rather pleasant. Haven't had wombat yet, and koala is meant to be toxic...

all we need is oil and we couldbe invaded by the US:rolleyes:

Ps: i dont mind Roo either

The main streets of Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie were made wide to accomodate the Camel Trains when they turned.

Why don't they just have one of those turntable things like they have for normal trains?

Now I have the Thomas the Tank Engine theme in my head.

Strange indeed.

Not wanting to drag down the intellectual side of the conversation... BUT, does that not mean we have the most Camel-toes as well??? ;) :D
