We missed Grant dearly but not @ CHB. We missed him up forward.

Kritter was good on Richardson but Bandy was dreadful. Bowden was better but spent most of the 2nd half off.

I didn't think Kritter was that good, Richo got plenty of the ball just further up the ground.

What happened to the tackling and intensity of last week?

How many times did passes to leading forwards land 10 ft in front of them?

Nathan Brown - kick a bloody set shot!

CHB gotta generate drive and attack, not just negate. Did Richo play CHF?

I just got to listen to the middle half of the game on the radio, and it sounded as though bowden was doing some major damage on a wing, despite lots of clangers -- who was his opponent?

what happened with wiggins and harris? Did they just have terrible games or did they not get played?

Harris played the entire game in the back pocket on mostly Stafford.

Wiggins played more than a half in the forward pocket. The delivery to him was bad, but he doesn't present himself well enough. Took one excellent pack mark and then kicked it OOB on the full.

Richo rotated between CHF & FF.

Bowden was at HF but pushed up the ground.

Hope Rhode gives them a spray because we should not lose those sort of games.Disposal into the forward line was disgusting and was probably what cost us the game in the end.We really should have had it wrapped up if we executed properly but once they got momentum they rammed it home. Was happy with clean hands in close and also Bowdens form before he was taken off.Alvey cost us two goals from pulling his head away from smothers and they were both at crucial times.Just a quick player by player:

Murphy-Had 8 possesions in the first 10 minutes (by my count) but faded out a little.Still well and truly in our best players IMO.

Garlick-No impact

Smith-Frawley used Cameron as a deterrent for Smith to run off and create. He has used Cameron like this a few times on damaging flankers and it worked perfectly today.Cameron got 4 and Smith had a reduced impact.

Johnson-Typical game from BJ and would have kicked a couple more had he been used a couple of times as we charged forward.Hahn burnt him twice in a quarter.Never stopped running.

West-One of the best on the ground IMO.

Hahn-Was pretty good in close but needs to show a bit of vision at times. Can hold his head up though.

Eagleton-Pretty ordinary. Not sure he is suited to the role Rhodes using him in.Got ignored a couple of times when running past on his good side.Cant be doing much for the confidence.

Bandy-I thought he didnt get to as many contests as he could have. Was pretty dissapointing IMO.

Basset-Did his job and thats about it.Had a dip

Guido-Incredibly frustrating to watch from my view point.A man of his talent should not give the ball up as much as he does.Probably going for passes that are very low percentage.Got a bit of it atleast.

Darcy-Pretty dominant in the centre and around the stoppages.Could have done with a few more contested marks from him around the ground.

Power-Cant complain because he didnt do alot wrong.Marginally missed a couple of targets which hurt us but generally he had a pretty good game.

Brown-Not bad but not great.Would have kicked a bag if our delivery was even slightly better. Also thought before Wiggins and Bandy went deep into the forward line we were too conscious of looking for Browny. In the second when Bandy and Wiggy went deep we looked much better.

Bowden-Thought he was brilliant early but was on and off after that. His clean grab marking was a big bonus I thought.

Wiggins-Used pretty sparingly. Was dirty on himself after he massacred that shot on goal and never really got back into it.Should be maintained in the side and hopefully he can find his confidence. Not presenting and demanding the ball which he needs to do.

Mcmahon-Used in bursts and did nothing wrong. Will be great value when he gets some game time under his belt.

Hargrave-Very good IMO.Ran forward hard and put his body on the line.

Dimma-A little sloppy at times and found it hard to get into it off the bench.Did do some nice things though.

Robbins-Worked his arse off and made alot of spoils that he really had no right to get to.Good game.

Alvey-Played a typical Alvey game.Used it well and ran hard. Two missed smothers and a costly decision when crumbing a marking contest all cost us goals. The contest I refer to came in the third. The ball got switched to Johnson who had the sit but was always going to get spoiled.Alvey ran in to make it a two on one but instead of going front and square ran on hoping Johnson would mark it and he would have a free run.The tigers player spoiled and they got a goal from it.He needs to get that side of his game right to be one of the elite in our side.Did alot more than some others though.

Kretiuk-Kept Richo to 12 touches and one goal.Game swung when he got injured.Easily in our best 2 or 3 IMO.I might be wrong but early it seemed like he and Basset were rotating in short bursts on him possibly to negate Richos running adavantage.Seemed to settle on Krfetiuk as game wore on.Please tell me I wasnt imagining it.

Harris-Played the sort of game you would expect.Gave very little away and made a contest.Probably needs to work on his pace off the mark.

Still think overall our disposal into the forward line was a major factor in our loss.40 tackles is up on last year but not enough yet.At times we were not as direct as we could have been.Hope to god Rhode drums into them that good sides dont lose those sort of games.

I dont think you guys missed Grant. It was a very close game until right at the end when the Tigers had it in the bag. Johnson (ur Johnson) played very well I think.

Bad Luck

Go the Tigers!

Does Kretuik's injury look serious?

What happened/changed in the third & fourth quarters?

Not trolling the Tigers, but they hardly had their best side out there today.

Richo rotated between FF & CHF. Initially Bassett took him when he went to FF. In the 2nd half Kritter had him all the time (except when he went off).

Kritter came back on so the injury can't be too bad.

Couldnt agree more rfctigerarmy.

It wasnt a very good game to watch but the tigers just wanted the game more than we did, especially in the last qtr.

Good write up dogboy

Good summary dogboy...i agree with you on most points except Alvey especially. I thought he was hopeless at times and made bad decisions...doesn't seem to be able to read the play sometimes. I can't believe bowden and wiggins missed their shots. I was pleased with wiggin's mark after that 'effort' a few minutes before, but he should have easily kicked a goal. Our disposal was pathetic. Aparently we had the most clanger kicks of the round in round 1 and i tip we will be on top again.

Its not the fact of did we miss Grant or not? Its a fact that he not out there, isnt going to be. You cant decide the fate of the game on one player playing or not. There are 22 accountable players that were there today...n they basically threw away the chance when they had it.

we did misss granty but the fact is like how mels put it we arent going to have him for the rest of the year and our players are going to have to learn and win without him.If not it may be a long season but we have won without him in the past so im sure we can do it again.

After Round 1, I posted a thread about what I thought was poor kicking after watching bits of 2 quarters. Most here disagreed with me, but it appears to have come back to bite us this week.

Reckon you guys missed Grant and Croft too.

You've got a few tall young kids with talent - a few getting around for Werribee too, unfortunately it'll just take a little time before they're ready. At least you guys have got the balls to give your youngsters a go.

Not sure why Pat Bowden sat on Bench for second half. Looked promising in the first half.

Watched a few of your youngsters in action for Werribee on Saturday. Future looks bright.

On the other side of the coin reckon Eagleton and Dimma are struggling.

Thanks for the write up Dogboy.

I didn't see the game and a friend had the stupidity to ring me up during the second quarter!

I yhink it was in the third quarter but may have been later that Eagleton did something dumb (pulled out of a contest?). Robert Walls pronounced his career as over and Tony Shaw agreed. What was it and was it that bad?

I was also surprised to hear that Harris was on the ground for the whole game. I didn't hear his name mentioned much. did he show anything and do enough to be given another chance?

He did nothing wrong, it's just that he doesn't have the confidence yet to attack. He'll play plenty of footy for us in the future but may be the one who makes way for Crofty this week.

You're probably right, Mel, but we were outrun, not outmarked. If Crofty comes back there might not be anyone for Harris to play on.
