I'm not sure if this is a troll or not. But I reckon we didn't have to loose, but I reckon it's a good thing. Not as much pressure on us to continue winning and if we were to drop one then its better now than the finals. Also the more pressure games we play the better to prep for september.

There were plenty of positives to come out of the game. It's definately a catalyst for the players to work on parts of their game which weren't clicking on Sunday.

I think you wanted to have a real crack at Geelong here didn't you?

You've made your statement but tried to hide it a bit by adding a question at the start.

If you think we're gona crack then just say that.

By the way, Carlton... eh

He wrote "I" might turn out to be a blessing. Rather than "It" might turn out to be a blessing.
Correct. I definitely think 'it' may be a blessing in disguise, but I'm yet to be convinced that YOU, d'King, are a blessing in disguise though.:p:D

Oops, what a 'kin goose!! Normally I check on that sort of stuff. Yes "It" was the correct word, although I have been known to be at times. That's what mum told me anyway...

I think people are being a bit hard on Walshy, I reckon it's a legitimate question and lots of people have been asking it.

Personally the loss worries me. I thought we'd beat Port but they really out-played us all day until the last 5 minutes when it looked like a miracle had happened. The outs were important but we'll be lucky if we manage to keep our best 22 fit throughout the finals. The replacements have got to step up.

The streak wasn't that big a deal to the players because they are literally taking each game in turn, not getting ahead of themselves. The loss didn't hurt us re. the ladder, home finals etc, but if it planted seeds of doubt it could be a problem.

I hope we come out and smash Brisbane, whether they are still alive in the finals or not. I want to see us hit September all guns blazing.

If seeds of doubt are planted because we lost one game out of 16 then really, the Cats don't deserve the Premership. Geelong this year is about being mentally strong and determined and single-minded when it comes to games; good teams like the Eagles can lose games throughout the year and still be confident and full of flight come Finals. Geelong if they are to be a good side need to do the same; the loss against port should do the opposite and make them more determined then ever.

Correct.
Take away the 15 consecutive wins, we have only lost one game in the last 16. If this plants any seeds of doubt then we wouldnt have won 15 from 16. I have been having this arguement for the last 6 weeks I think - this is not the Geelong from previous years. This team focuses on each week as it comes, and now has the belief to win every game. You cant win them all because there are two teams out there. Eagles 2006? Got smashed in the last home and away game (by geelong?) and went on to win the big one. Please correct me if I am wrong........I

I might turn out to be a blessing in disguise. There was a lot to learn from it.
I recall West Coast losing their first home final last season by a point to Sydney after leading into the dying stages of the game. Down at half time in the preliminary final against the Crows having given their home ground advantage away it looked like West Coast might have thrown away a flag...but they came back and made the GF. In the GF when Sydney came at West Coast in those last 5-10 minutes to try snatch the game similar to that first home final West Coast to me handled that part of the game much better the second time round.

So the question is did the experience of losing that close one actually win them the flag? It's a question you can never really answer and can debate till the cows come home...but put simply if Geelong do learn from the loss to Port it could well be a blessing in disguise after all.

The real key is IF they learn from it.
