It was apparently reported on 10 last night that Didak wants to become a crow

Would we look at this?? What would we need to give up??

I would.

Exactly the sort of player we need IMHO. It would cost a fair bit. He is still young and gives you a crumbing forward and midfield option with pace. AA last year as well. I reckon he would cost plenty and rightly so.

Don't want him: he's a dirty player on the field and just as bad off of it. We don't need a disruptive influence around the club which will set a bad example to the younger players.

If he wants to come back to SA then he can go play with the Alberscum coz they seem to like those feral types (eg Pickett,Shattock,Hardwick).

Yawn. He's a footballer not a nun. We need footballers, not nice guys who can't play. We're crying out for a small forward, but I can't see Collingwood making an acceptable deal if this was on the table. The Pies are notorious for being the worst club to trade with, as they think that all their players are worthy of the No.1 draft pick. Just ask Port about their attempts to trade with the Pies....

Alot i think. He has stated he wants to stay but things have changed since his incident. Would need a knights/van berlo type which you guys wont want to trade. Maybe have to look at a three way deal (eg bris to get wood?)

So we complain because we don't have the arrogant type who's willing to throw his body around and provide us with a bit of flair and drive and then when one may potentially fall into our laps we jump up and down and don't want him?

Makes sense

I would've thought Meesen, our first pick and a fringe player would've secured the deal personally. Meesen + Mattner + pick 10 sounds on the money of what we'll throw up actually.

There would have to be a very good player coming back our way - 2 throw-ins and a 1st-rounder in a weak draft wouldn't cut it.

1 of those throw ins is a position that's still a weakness for you and a player that will be a very good player once he returns back to melbourne. The other was on the verge of being an AA wingman and is close to the most damaging tackler in the competition (that is until his career was destroyed by being moved to the backline).

If Didak was 6'5 I'd probably agree with you but smalls aren't as valuable. You want a Knights/van Berlo/Reilly but they won't be on the table. The club can't afford to offload them.

is this for real? yeehaa
reported on the main board, thought i'd bring it here to canvass our thoughts

personally, i think one of either meesen/griff/maric & mattner for him (and maybe a 2nd rounder)

Not for mine.

Collingwood are notoriously devious demanding traders. They would want far in excess of his true value.

We're not going to win a flag next year, so let's not try topping up. Let's build from the bottom up.

I think tht Didak would be great in the Crows foward line. We need someone like him to put in there, that we need excly. Matty Bode wont be back to his best you would think after having the whole season off, and Didak (who is young) could be put in the midfield in place of Ricciuto. But Collingwood would ask for a bit for Didak

Yes, ruck is a major weakness for us, but Meesen isn't the fix. We need a ruckman that actually has the ability to win hit-outs.
Mattner, although fun to watch on occasion, is close to the stupidest player going round. Always takes on one tackle too many and ends up killing the team's momentum.

Basically, neither player would actually make the Collingwood side. So essentially you're offering a no.10 pick for a 24yo AA...

I'm not sure why you think Knights/van Berlo/Reilly would all be off the table - Didak when fit is a better player than any of them. I'm not trying to troll here, I rate Knights and Reilly quite highly, but last year Didak was the best HFF in the comp. The problem atm is "when fit" - which is why I'd hate trading him this off-season since clubs are bound to underpay due to injury concerns.

He might not cost as much as people are specualting. Collingwood have publicly decalred that he will be sacked if he gets himself in trouble again. If Didak does re-offend in the near future the Pies run the risk of having to sack him and therefore, no compensation. Maybe Meesen and a re-working of draft picks could be enough?

Has Didak officially come out and said this? Or is Ch10 reporting based on the 5AA caller? Strange that he would say this (if he did) while his team is still in the finals. Sounds fishy.

I agree with you.

Not sure if Alan Didak at Adelaide will help us. It will probably ruin us.

I noticed that Alan Didak this year has lost a bit of his kicking power, and dosen't seem the same as he was in his better years such as 2003, maybe it was related to that knee surgery to he had last year. Look, losing Tarrant made no difference to the Pies, they will finish at least 6th after finishing 7th last year. I knew with Chris Tarrant going to Freo would spell disaster for the Dockers. Travis Cloke has filled that gap for Tarrant quite well and other guys such as Rusling and Thomas have also stepped up so they'll always be a challenge if Rocca has a bad game. Pies will be unstoppable if they can kick straighter in front of goal. Hmm scary!

LOL!

Mate take your collingwood cap off. I've seen pieces of cheese perform better in the ruck than Guy Richards and Chris Bryan. Meesen turkey slaps these boys in terms of what he brings to the table.

Mattner may not make the collingwood side as he's similar to several players in your lineup but I said fringe player and that being said you've still got some fair spuds on your list. IMO the Mattner of old is a walkup start to all clubs bar probably West Coast - it's just finding a coach who recaptures that form.

Isn't Didak a Port man originally anyway? Surely he would want to go to them before us anyway?

It's all speculation, came about as a result of a phone call to 5AA from a 'mate' of Didaks who said he wanted to come back to SA and would prefer the Crows over Port.

Wont happen IMO.
