Does depend on whether Judd chooses the Pies.

I think we would have to offer up both Hudson & McGregor to get the Bullies #5 pick. They won't give up pick #5 for Hudson alone.
eg. Hudson + McGregor + #10 + #26 for #5 + #21

Then trade #5 + #21/player for Didak (for the Pies to use in the Judd trade).

Should then trade a Mattner & Jericho to get back some draft picks.
 
Just a bit of a different perspective here. Say Carlton turn out to be Judd's preferred destination and they have the means of getting the deal done.

Now if Carlton is reluctant to trade away their #1 pick because they want to get that young ruckmen on their list. What would be the chances of them coming to us and offering us Gibbs for pick 10 + something/someone else or if we could swing a deal for Bulldogs' pick 5?!

Would you do that or would you rather take our chances in the draft.

Personally, I would be making a phone call to Carlton to at least explore the possibility. Chances are they say, go and get stuffed, but it doesn't hurt to ask ;)

Theres a snowflakes chance in hell .......

Theyre trying to build a future ....simply swapping players does not achieve that ......no they'll use draft picks to get Judd and Collingwood will have to trade players to West Coast OR trade players for low draft picks

This is a good deal, but we'd want Pick 5 + Meesen plus an upgrade to our second rounder. I just feel that Dids is worth a bit more than Meesen + 5, even if Judd is the end goal.

I'm not sure Didak has reached his full potential just yet, and he is already elite.

I reckon you are right there- that could be the potential 3 way deal needed for us to get Judd and for Adelaide and WB to be satisfied out of the deal as well.

Curiously can you trade players that have already been traded. Eg. Where you mentioned Pick 5 + either pick 21 or player for Didak.....say instead of 21 the pies wanted Farren Ray and the Bullies were prepared to offer him up as a part of this package deal for eg. Can the Bullies give you guys Ray and then you guys on trade Ray and pick 5 to us for Didak??? I know you can forward on draft picks but can you forward on players? Do the trade rules permit that?

I'd settle with pick 5 + Farren Ray in one of those complex deals but like McGoodies proposal mentioned earlier, i'd be happy with picks 5 + 21. I'd probably settle on 5 + Meesen IF need be to get Judd.

Nope.

You definitely can't on-trade players that you have got in that same trade period by trading.

The rules are quite specific that on-trading of players cannot be done.

Proven matchwinner, AA forward who has proven he can go to the middle, sensational finals performer for Pick 5 in a very weak draft, and an out of favour ruckman. All I'm looking for in addition is a 2nd round pick exchange just to make it a bit sweeter, given then we won't be using Pick 5 and won't enter the draft until late in the 2nd round.

No way is he an out of favour ruckman. He's our main ruckman by a country mile and our king of clearances as well.

He will be a huge loss for us.

He's quitting the club, not the other way round. He's a required player by the AFC.
 
its outrageous as we are a team of aging stars and trying to find some youth for the future, giving away vital draft picks isn't consistent with this pilosiphy.

In any case I have not seen or read anything concrete that indicates Didak wishes to leave collingwood?

Hudson + 10 are already gone to the dogs at this point of the imaginary trade :)
 
I wouldn't say meeson is out of favour either. He is definitely a required player at the AFC i think, and still regarded very highly. Meeson will definitely get games at the AFC next year and isn't far from playing some really good football.
 
Crows clearly need a key Ruckman but Alan Didak would be a great pickup as well. But Ruckmen are what we badly need. I always predicted Judd to go to Collingwood and remember Buck's career is coming towards an end but he played superbly in this years Finals series.

We have an excess of ruckman - even with the likely loss of Hudson, we would have Biglands, Maric, Meesen & Griffin.

We are badly in need of a goal-kicking forward who can play in the midfield, like Didak.
 
That would be the right amount of ruckmen for a squad wouldn't it?? I wouldn't call it an excess, at a minimum we need 2 to start and 2 to as backup incase either get injured, maybe even 3 backup incase or more injuries.

But yes i agree we do need a goal kicking forward who can play midfield. ie Didak, Davey etc.
 
I thought Didak was pretty ordinary this year and really stood up in the finals when it was crucial. His potential is amazing and I cant see Collingwood letting him go unless he wanted out and seriously would you want out from that team, infront of packed house after packed house? I personally hope Adelaide get say a 2nd round pick for Huddo and Mcgregor in my view is worth no more than a 3rd round pick. Hopefully we keep both picks, keep Meesen, and if we trade only trade for young players who have potential to be 10 year players, like Cameron Wood.. We need youth at our club big time, it would be great to see minimum 6-8 under 20s join the club.. And a few quick Aboriginals are needed, its worth the punt

I just wnted other peoples thoughts as I have heard rumours he wants to be a crows as he is South Aussie..
I would actually like to see him as a crow as he has good speed, is smart and does alot of tricks:)
