Also a lot of common ground in Round 2. Unusually for a win, almost every voter picked the same 5 players but in different orders. You more normally you see that with a bad loss with few players contributing.

Round 3

5: Grundy (104 votes)
4: Quaynor (71)

2: Pendlebury (42)
1: Howe (16)

Others:

LEADERBOARD after Round 8

1620796525204.png

Moore has 17 votes out of a possible 25 in games where he played down back, and 0 from 15 in games where he played up forward.

Crisp and Pendlebury as consistent as ever have polled in most weeks.

6 different BOGs and 17 different players polling votes from 8 games might normally indicate that the team has a nice even spread but this year it just looks like no top level players dominating.

Round 9 v Sydney

5: Crisp (46 votes)
4: Hoskin-Elliott (44)
3: Maynard (34)
2: Mayne (21)
1: Daicos (14)

De Goey 6
Grundy 4
Sidey, Poulter, Noble 3
Moore, McCreery 1

A rare case of the player who got the most BOGs not ending up on top. WHE had 5 BOGs to Crisp's 3, but Crisp did get votes off everyone enabling him to take it out.

Round 10 v Port

5: Grundy (90 votes)
4: Crisp (81)
3: Roughead (74)
2: Adams (24)
1: Mayne (21)

Poulter 20
McCreery 12
Quaynor 9
Hoskin-Elliott, Moore 5
Daicos 3
Noble 1

LEADERBOARD:

Crisp's ultra consistent Collingwood career continues and he's now leaped ahead of the rest. He's polled in 7 of our 10 games.

Grundy scored his 3rd BOG against Port, the most for us so far.

The most uniform votes I've seen in the Didaka. Only 8 players got votes and they all got at least 10.

A great 4 games for Maynard (12 votes) and Pendlebury and De Goey (11 votes each) means that Crisp's lead doesn't seem insurmountable any more.

Crisp has one hand on the Didaka trophy with De Goey needing near perfect scores in the last three weeks to get the victory. No one else can win from here but it's pretty tight for the minor placings.

Since there's no other Collingwood news to distract us at the moment  let's finalise the Didaka.

Results for the last 3 games:

Alright, the moment everyone* has been waiting for - the final placings for the Didaka Award 2021!

No expense has been spent on this glittering award ceremony.

Some thoughts:
  • De Goey stormed home with 5 BOGs, 2 2nds and 2 3rds in his last 11 games. This to me is the big story. If De Goey can make what he did in the second half of the year his new normal then he will become the genuine superstar he's always threatened to be.
  • Crisp really is Mr Consistent
  • 4 first year players ended up receiving votes
  • Pendles still got votes in 10 of the 18 games he played, but didn't manage a single BOG.
  • Moore was probably on track for a 3rd place finish given he missed half the year
  • Grundy finished a lot higher up than you would guess if all you knew about him was what you read on this forum
  • 25 different players received votes out of the 39 we used

Great job again, thank you.

Should add, as I neglected to do it earlier:

Congratulations Jack Crisp on a well deserved win! 🎉 🥳 👏

Should be an unbackable favourite for the Copeland (whenever it's being held).

Ultra consistent throughout the year, stepped up to a midfield role, even added some strong overhead marking to his game by the end of the season. If only we had more players as durable and consistent as him.

Great effort compiling as usual, MM.

Would dare say the board have got the top 3 (in order) pretty much spot-on come end of season, too.

The picture of Shrek alongside Mayne's name is a hilarious send-off. Nice work MM, think the board got it right

I hope it wasn't too mean. But I must admit the link has popped into my mind on many occasions.

Because he has a well-meaning heart and is an absolute beast on the footy field who will go above and beyond for a worthy cause, I’m sure. 🤗
