Also Rickman played a good sheriff of nottingham too and also good in Dogma

Are you suggesting it transcends genres? Because whilst that is true, that doesn't preclude it from a classification as a Christmas movie. It's a Christmas movie as much as it is an action film, it just so happens that it's in the upper echelon of both.

One could argue that a Christmas movie is defined as a movie you would only/mostly watch at Christmas time... ie. It's A Wonderful Life, Elf, Home Alone, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation to name a few.

I'd watch Christmas Vacation or Home Alone at any time to be honest, but fair point.
