I was thinking about this ever since saturday. Lets put ourselves in Roo's shoes for a second. You are a captain of the side that just got flogged by 75 points and really need to turn things around against reigning premiers. You come down with a gastro-virus just before the most important game for some time.

Do you decide to play dispite not feeling 100%, but you are the captain and you want to leas by example even if you are crook or do you say I will only be a liability on the day and its better for someone else to get a go??????

I really found this as a tough question because as a leader I would want to go out and show everyone of my players that no virus is going to stop me and that could prove inspirational for the rest of the team or do I cut my losses and let someone else get the spot.

I reckon it would have beena tough decision for the Roo.

I am really interested to know what would you have done?????

The decision should have been taken away from Roo & club (medical) staff should ahve put him through a fitness test. Was obvious very early in the game he was not even close to being fit. As I mentioned numerous times last year, AFC did themselves no favours by picking players not close to 100% fit, because most times in backfired. Would have been better off playing the likes of Bode against the Lions than an unwell Roo.

You guys missed the point of it all. I didn't ask if the decision should have been left to the player. I asked what would you do if you were in Roo's shoes.

Obviously it was up to Roo to decide if he plays or not and he made a decision. So if you were in his shoes and it was up to you to decide, which way would you go??????;)

I would play if I was Roo. As captain you would want to be out there despite any gastro. Sure it didn't work on Saturday but maybe the coaching staff didn't use him well. Sit him up forward and let him try to kick a few goals.

Didn't miss your point Stiffy - IMO, shouldn't need to be put in Roo's shoes as it should not be his decision to make! ;)

Maybe the coach asked Roo for a big effort to help AFC "**** all over them"? I'm sorry, but someone had to say it!

If it was the same thing I had a few weeks ago it was a remarkable effort for him just to be out there.
