Tyrrell detective Jubelin found guilty
A Sydney magistrate has found former senior detective Gary Jubelin guilty of making unlawful tapes during the search for toddler William Tyrrell.

Former NSW detective Gary Jubelin has been found guilty of unlawful conduct while he led the long-time investigation into William Tyrrell's disappearance.

Magistrate Ross Hudson today found Jubelin guilty of four breaches of the Surveillance Devices Act.
He said Jubelin pursued Mr Savage "at all costs" and deployed techniques that were "above and beyond legality".
"In the pursuit of Mr Savage and in the mode of operating at all costs, in my view … Mr Jubelin has acted illegally," Judge Hudson said.

The foster parents jumping out in favour of Jubelin when he could have cost if not blown the investigation.

Magistrate Hudson said Jubelin belittled and humiliated Mr Savage in lengthy interviews, with a repetition that "may be seen as offensive", despite there being no evidence to confirm his involvement.
"There's no DNA, there's no fingerprints, there's nobody who says 'I saw him go into the backyard', there's no leads, there's nothing," the magistrate said.
"He's picked Mr Savage. He's pursuing him at this stage ... at all costs."
Jubelin always denied wrongdoing, insisting he had "a lawful right and an operational need" to record the material.
But Magistrate Hudson said Jubelin came across in court as "a person playing a role, telling a story", his evidence "self-evidently partisan" and his answers at times "lengthy and self-serving".

TO:

The foster parents of William Tyrrell released a statement after the verdict, saying that Jubelin had "lived and breathed" the investigation.
"The situation is that Gary and his dedicated team members have given everything within their power in their resolve to finding William — even often at great personal expense and loss," the statement read.

The thing that makes Jubelin appeal to the foster parents, and the families of other victims who have supported him, is that he takes the crimes very personally and cares about the victims. This is also what makes him a poor investigator. This is why Victim Liaison is (or should be) a specialist role in a police force. Taking things personally can lead to tunnel vision, which can lead to what we've seen here.

What does working on mean
Good question. Sometimes I will say a suburb & well after I don't know why I said that suburb at all. I will never say I am a psychic. Been told by psychics that I am way better than them. I think I need to drive by a spot and that is when I get a feeling someone is there. I got that feeling by Coolongup Lake sth of Perth on a day trip to Madora Bay. I don't know to this day why I felt that. Usually when anyone drives by a lake they think someone is in that lake.

I think Jubelin did the right thing. Even though the Judge said he was wrong. Sometimes in life you gotta take a different path to get the results. Then connect the dots after. Hop into his shoes & do the job. I think the guy in the caravan did it.

Is that you Dave Caporn?

Nah, the police of all people should adhere to the law.

Detective Gary Jubelin did the right thing. I praise the guy actually. Top bloke imo.
No he didn't do the right thing. Savage was already being listened to legally in September / Oct 2017. Also went out of their way to try to entrap Savage by putting a spiderman costume in the bush for him to find.

Jubelin was acting like Caporn on steroids. Narrow minded focus on an innocent person at all costs.

Even though Jubelin took over the investigation 5 months after William disappeared there was been a serious lack of basic police procedure before and that didn't seem to have been corrected under Jubelin's watch.

Were the Foster Mother, father and grandmother interviewed and statements taken on the day William disappeared?

Were the photos taken by the foster mother analysed for corrected time and actual time to match up with when it was thought William disappeared?

Was the possible route a car could have travelled through from Benaroon Drive through Kendell, mapped and investigated for camera's and witness's on the routes door knocked and asked if they saw anything?

And when Mr Chapman's witness statement (found credible in the Coronal Inquest in 2019) that he saw William being driven away that morning was finally interviewed in April 2017, so why was Savage was followed up instead?

Mr Chapman was formally interviewed by police, who electronically recorded his witness statement and a property walk-through, on April 4 in 2017 — a gap of 935 days.

The latest episode of Nowhere Child gives a bit more information about the odd behaviour of Mr Savage. Not only did the postie put an intervention order on him but he was visiting the foster nanna's house and making her so uncomfortable she had a word to Mrs Savage about it. Then when Mrs Savage passed away, he started wearing an A4 print photograph of her around his neck.

That of course doesn't mean he had anything to do with William's disappearance but it certainly would draw some attention.

Hopefully a transcript becomes available because I can't do podcasts.

Something is going on with this, as in they got fresh leads early into the hearing that needed to be followed up on. They might be getting close to finding out what really happened to William.

Several witnesses are still to give evidence and investigators are examining fresh leads.
Counsel assisting the coroner, Gerard Craddock SC, told a directions hearing on Monday that there were people who had information about William's disappearance and suspected death who should contact NSW Police.

I'm predicting one of two things in regard to Jubelin.

1. He 100% knows who did it and will go to any lengths, legal or illegal, to get the evidence he wants to prove it. Rust Cohle style.

2. He's on the right track in regards to who did it, but there's someone involved with connections and influence that wants it to remain unsolved so he's been made a patsy for something else.

One day we might know which...

In the news yesterday and today is this AFP led pedo ring taken down under Operation Arkstone, with 2 of the 9 men arrested around Australia being from Kendall NSW.

It is being described by the AFP as
the biggest domestic child exploitation network uncovered in recent times,”

Despite the Australian's headlines below
There is no suggestion that the men, who were in their teens at the time three-year-old William Tyrrell vanished from his foster-grandmother's home in Kendall in 2014, were involved in his disappearance

The SMH article far below names the 2 Kendall NSW men as
Timothy Doyle (26yo)
Steven Garrad (21yo)

Worryingly, one of these two men had previously worked at a child care centre in nearby Taree and the AFP are reported to have described some of the offences as being "opportunistic".

Pedophile ring with links to William Tyrrell case smashed
The Australian understands the Kendall men had no previous criminal history for child abuse offences, but one of them had previously lost his job due to allegations of abuse.
It’s believed the pair have never been interviewed about Tyrrell. At least one is believed to have been living in a home that was doorknocked by police during the Tyrrell investigation, but was not questioned.
Police say a total of 14 children have been removed from harm across the country as they continue to work to identify victims in images and videos shared among the network. The operation was launched in early 2020 after a tip-off from the US National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children to the ACCCE. More arrests are expected, and further victims will be identified.

It's sickening. A teenager could have taken William so I'm not sure claiming they were only teenagers when he went missing gets either of them off any investigative hook.

Following on though from the arrests today, why? Why is child abuse and pr0n becoming more violent and prolific in Australia?

Ms Gale issued a warning to parents saying child exploitation in Australia is "becoming more prolific".
"The victims are getting younger and younger, the type of offending is becoming more violent and brazen," she said.
Ms Gale said with certainty she expected more arrests to be made.
