I just don't see why Melbourne don't see this as a winnable game. They tend to play well against the better teams, and have a decent record at Skilled Stadium. Thats why I dont agree with PatrickBateman; Melbourne obviously decided that fresher legs would do better then those who were still sore and tired.

Geelong rests players all the time, I don't see why Melbourne couldn't.

Amen. Great post.

Massive ask down at Shell. But I promise you Melbourne will be going 100 miles an hour come game time. Fresh legs will be our best chance. Tom and Jack obviously won't provide that for us this week.

I've seen many young, first year players play full seasons. I'll happily get a list of them. This is not common.

Head. Brick wall. Darwin last week? Hello, McFly.

Where's your list?

Heck, Geelong rested one of their highest goal scorers (Pods) for the exact same reason; he was sore and tired and needed a week off. No one batted an eyelid. Yet Melbourne drop some younger blokes who run around all day no less and they get cruisified for it? Interesting double standard.

"Resting" Trengove and Scully for this week against the Cats. Shocking decision really as it would have been such a great learning curve for them.

Soft really

Pathetic thread. These kids have played 6-9 games of AFL football in their first season, they just came back from playing in 33 degree heat last week. These are kids, not seasoned AFL players who can cope with the weekly grind of having to run 15-16 km a game in underdeveloped bodies and crashing and bashing against experienced opponents. Geel would have demolished these two this week, they will get nothing out of it until they are better prepared for it. Get a clue before you post stupid threads

Doesn't change the fact that both would be playing against a weak opposition this week if the club considered it a winnable game, you know it. You yourself would expect them to play, don't tell me you wouldn't.

You idiot, you absolute idiot. Its not about how hard and tough you are mate, its about how smart you are at managing your young players. You have absolutely no clue how those lads pulled up during the week. I think ill back the opinion of the medical staff and coaches at Melbourne in front of you who sits behid a computer. Really smart arguments Einstein, really smart

That's fine, your reaction says otherwise though.

My reaction is to laugh at your stupidity, you can interpret that anyway you wish

None of you are facing the question I put to you regarding the timing of the so called 'resting' of the 2 players. It's all about the opposition. They aren't giving this game their all.. if so, why not rest the 2 players on separate weeks instead of both in the same week, which just happens to be against the best side in the league? They would be a better chance for winning surely??

Further evidence of your stupidity and the reason why we're laughing at you. It has nothing to do with the opposition and everything to do with managing the workload of first year players.
I fail to see how playing two kids who pulled up extremely tired from a very hot and humid game in Darwin would give us a better chance of winning, you have yet to answer this simple question.

Bottom line. Melbourne are resting these 2 against a game they don't think they can win, when compared to other opposition.. that is soft. This is not a good culture for a club to promote to its fans and the wider football community.

You wouldn't know what the bottom line is even if you were sitting on it. You have no idea about managing the workload of young players and you clearly have no understanding on what culture means.

I'm amazed that anyone could be so dumb, you're either trying to lamely troll or you're incredibly niave and stupid.
Which is it?
