I really dont understand why people knock our anthem it represents us all.

I mean the other day when I was out looking at our golden soil I thought to myself the other songs that girt around the place are not as abounding as AAF.

But national anthems are supposed to be traditional.

We've all spoken about how bad the "less" traditional football club anthems are.

Isn't this the same sort of thing?

Personally I LOVE the national anthem and am opposed to changing it to something else or this disco effort.

I doubt too many would complain about a jazz version, or one with a full classical orchestra, or even a country band playing it on banjo and spoons. A gospel choir would be fine, and acoustic guitar version would be fine. It is either one 'pure' version or it is fair game for all musical styles.

This isn't about protecting the anthem, it is about musical snobbery.

Anyway, lots of dance music is more anthemic than the Advance Australia Fair will ever be. Imagine the respect we would get going to war with the band playing Firestarter by the Prodigy :)

Well it's not as if we're replacing the old one for the new one. It's just an adaption of it. I agree with tashibatts too - our current one isn't that crash hot anyway.

Bah its done to appease the whining gay minorities in this city. Clover Moore is the voice for Gay Sydney.

I mean we already have to put up with the mardi gras? Why do we have to put up with a camp NYE?? Its all about pleasing the gay community with Clover Moore.

I don't have a problem with people doing other versions of the national anthem, but I think this new version sounds crap. Still it should be allowed to be played on New Year's Eve.

I don't think it's offensive as some in the media have labelled it.
I think it sounds like sh*t, that's all.
There are certain songs that despite how many attempts to make it into a rap version it just won't cut it, and this is one of them.

That Leo Schofield was reported in the press as saying he wants to move here to Hobart, on this basis I think he can stay up in Sydney.

Exactly right.

Not that I personally have a problem with this, but is there another country in the world who would actually allow their national anthem to be remixed like this? Can you imagine a country like America or France, any country really so long as they're actually proud of their anthem (ie not Australia), tolerating a disco or rap version? This truly is a unique country we live in.
