Who gives a stuff what Aker thinks. This one time D-lister now Z-lister thinks this is a way he can get his voice heard and extend his 15 minutes.

Not unexpected, no one is interested in him or his opinions so he makes stuff up just to get some attention.

He's a real media parasite who tries to get his name in the paper by sledging some who is respected all.

Agreed, I understand to some degree, where he is coming from about the state funeral as perhaps some people that deserve it have not received one.
But that said, just because others havent doesnt mean he shouldnt get one.
Not only is he being honored for what he did with kids but also all the people he inspired with his courage and wonderful outlook on life.

To me it just shows how much the man was loved and I am very happy to hear he will be honored in this way.

akers comments hopefully will see him out of a job, I always thought he was harmless enough, just a loudmouth but this has really made me angry.
The guy is gutless and has no regard for what hurt his words can cause.

Poor Sam and the kids will hear this sort of rubbish and it is extra hurt they didnt need.

That headline did sound worse than the full quote in the article (classic News Ltd) but nonetheless it was a disgraceful thing to say. Zero respect for him as a person.

Attention whore.

What a **** act. (word rhymes with stunt).

Anyone else see shelves after shelves of his book in the big "bargain" bin??? Was amusing. Bitter little twit who seems to be fighting a losing battle against raging egotism, hope he went bankrupt over it.

Dirt. Nothing more to say.

I just hope that Aker gets the same vitriol through the media and public forums as have Yumi Stymes and Matt Rendell have got.

As bad as what either of them said, they didn't say it about a deceased person, who can't defend himself, and when his family are grieving.

Jason Akermanis has shown himself to be a lowlife and a toilet of a human being. His timing was appalling, and his insensitivity was unbelievable.

Jim Stynes' right pinkie fingernail has more selflessness, humility and goodness than Jason Akermanis has in his whole body.

I think Aker has to make a public apology, especially to Sam Stynes and the children. They don't deserve to have to hear such rot.

The poster who described him as a parasite was spot on.

He'll attach himself like a tick to any story in order to feed his own career.

As hard as it it, the only way to make him go away is to ignore him.

Unfortunately there are far too many media outlets out there willing to give him a platform and way too many people who think he is some sort of "breath of fresh air calling it as he sees it".

Been on a downward spiral for some time that bloke, nothing to lose now so cash for (controversial) comment.

A caller told us that she rang the station on which Akermanis made the comments & they told her they are "terminating his services".

I think Aker may have finally done his dash. #low

Is this even a story? We know what he was like, as if it should matter what this guy thinks.

Nice to see Aker make these comments when there is no way Jimmy can reply. Wouldn't have had the balls to say it to his face.

The comments going round on twitter some it all up too. The bloke is finished, and rightly so.

I dont believe his comments were intended to be as harsh as they sound. It was a poor choice of words rather than a deliberate attack, as when refering to Jim as "Nasty" it was in reference to his competitiveness towards his footy, not his personality.

He was also very ignorant in questioning whether being an AFL footballer makes Jim Stynes worthy of a State Funeral, when everyone knows this is not because of his work on the field but rather his work off it.

Ignorant, poorly timed and very poorly worded, but I dont think those were his intentions.

Its for both - what he did for our national game and what he did for charity 1000 times over. Normally we do overstate famous death but everything good that was said about Jimmy we said to him long before he became ill. You don't get this outpouring of grief for nothing....

He is the exception and always will be

IF Jimmy doesn't deserve a state funeral they who does?

As a lioness, Ive defended Aker in the past from his idiotic ways many times - I wont defend him on this EVER

Delete this thread. Don't even give this guy the time of day, seriously.

Thought crossed my mind but as long as it keeps this type of discussion out of his memorial thread I'm fine with it.

Aker has been sacked from the radio show.
What a moron, his first time on air was his last.
Glad they had the sense to get rid of him.

Now the tool is falling all over himself to apologise.
Always the same with him, says something inflammatory and then its the same old line that he didnt mean it like that.

Hopefully his time in the media is now over, nothing worth hearing from this idiot.

Posted this on the main board. Should probably put it in our backyard as well

I've got no problem with what Akermanis said. Stynes was a tough, aggressive competitor. Fair enough. He misunderstood why a state funeral was offered but he's not alone there. Maybe he should have researched a little further. Don't even question his timing as it's a topical issue. He's paid to comment on topical issues.

What I do have a problem with is the headline "Aker attacks Stynes". Firstly because he did no such thing and secondly because it colours the readers' view of his words before they get to read them. And I think the headline rather than the words spoken have provoked the over the top outcry against him.
