The manner in which we went about our business was nothing short of pathetic. The old ways came back quickly. As Tommy would say 'STOP FINESSIN.' Where was the passion, the committment from last week?

The most scary thing about that performance, apart from being against a struggling club from last year, was the fact we were at about full strength.

Nothing infuriated me more last year was the amount of times richmond would not match up on the loose man in defence. It took about 15mins last week for frawley to work it out, this week was terrible coaching. Bizzell is a terrific player, but gee it was made easier for him tonight.

We were pretty ordinary tonight. Melbourne were very good and switched on right from the start.
I got the feeling a lot of players were sitting back waiting for someone else to do the hard yards. Several times 2 had the ball covered but waited for the other only for a Melbourne player who wanted it more to grab it. Fleming gave us some drive out of the middle when he came on.
Very indirect like last year. Poor disposal cost us, usually under a lot of pressure but sometimes under none.
Shining light for me was Hartigan. This kid can play. Was on Davey who was great for a chunk of the game , but Hartigan beat him pointless in a lot of one on one contests.
Lucky we kicked straight and had some Brown magic. Maybe it won't look so bad on the TV.
A week's a long time in football.

Well... I am utterly utterly gutless. I am feeling really hollow inside. After a brilliant win last week and now this... Its pethetic.

Im just gonna named all the players and how they did so i can at least get sum positives.

Bowden- Pethetic game. He is a reciever. He shouldnt of got that many possesions. At least he was hard at the contest. I never heard the words Bowden and Courageous in the same paragraph but i did tonite.

Brown- Luv this guy. Plays to his best no matter what. Kicked 3 good goals and got a few possesions. One of the better performers.

Campbell- Good game. Led the team. Might get suspended. But overall good to see him in form.

Chaffey- Played ok without being good. Probably not 100% matchfit. but would be expecting more from him next week.

Coughlan- Quite game but still good. Did the 1%ers and that was a great smother by him.

Fiora- Darn fiora did his knee.... Thats so bad and just as he was cementing a place in that backline. Change with Weller

Fleming- Didnt do anything to impress me. Change with Roach

Gasper- Did pretty shocking actually. Looked awkward when moving and my heard was in my mouth whenever that ball went forward for them.

Hall- Ok game. Wouldnt do his confidence so good that the team got flogged.

Hartigan- Luv this kid. He is good under pressure and i would leave him on for next week.

Hyde- Brilliant. Might i just say the best game i have ever seen him play. At least he has shown improvement. Only bad thing was standing in the one spot when davey was running other than that great goal and good game. Keep him.

Johnson- Has had a shocking start to the year. Has racked up the disposals but then wastes the ball. He turned it over so many times tonight. Least he is leading the possesions tho

Kellaway- Should of had a longer go on Neitz but kellaway was kellaway

Krakouer- Yeh good game by this kid also. Showed poise,Skill and promise for the future. Kicked a few goals also

Morrison- What a gem. I like the way this guy goes about his footy. Has he got good hands or what. Did u see in the second quarter when he went back for that massive courageous mark and if he took it it would of definatly been mark of the year. But good effort, good presentation and good goal. Wish he took that spekkie...

Newman-What i saw of him was only in the 3rd quarter when tagging davey. Only got in the game in the 3rd and 4th quarter but that wasnt much

Ottens- Dominated the ruck but didnt tap it to his midfielders. Easy as that.

Richo- ......

Rodan - Was he even playing? I think we should drop him for Blumfield. Just to smarten up a bit.

Stafford- Did ok. Best game of 2004 for him so far.

Tivendale- I dunno really. Didnt do to much to inspire me.

Zantuck- Has had a quite 2 weeks. Needs to be dropped for either hilton, shultz or tuck

Gaspar was easily beaten by Neitz by some of the goals he didn't have a hell of a lot of chance to stop them.

Hyde - I think brillant is going way to far, panics to much, used as a witches hat, back to Coburg.

Zantuck - I think shift Ty back to defence to where he has been a bit more consistent and give him a decent match-up. E.g. tonight should have been on Robertson.

Agree Kretchy. Ty up forward wasn't working and he has given a few free kicks away the last two weeks. Good idea as a pinch-hitter roll but not for a full game. I thought Ty would have been a better match up for us down back on Robertson or Bruce. It would have meant too that Fiora wouldn't have had to play such a negating defensive roll and would have allowed him add some quick and direct run off half-back which we were lacking tonight.

Not sure what you are trying to say about Bowden Wrenny. You have said he was pathetic and a receiver, but also hard at it and courageous.

Why will Campbell be reported? I haven't watched the game yet, only listened to the radio. On the radio they said Campbell had his face gouged by Travis Johnstone. They also said Cambell should have been given a few more frees as McDonald was going well beyond the rules in the way he was tagging.

I left the game at 1/2 time totally appalled by the umpiring. 90% of football is played above the shoulders and if you are being penalized for something and then no reward when the same thing happens to you, yes your mind will drift away from the target. All this just to keep the minority happy and a 16 team league viable. As for McDonald who never once looked at the football, players like this should be open slather for the likes of Stafford to clean up with a flying elbow.
Disgraceful is how the AFL play the punters for fools and send umpires into a game with an obvious script.

Cambo pushed McDonald to the ground then stood over him and grabbed his jumper and shook him a couple of times. Cambo didn't drop his knees wrenny.

well I came to melbourne for two weeks to watch footy and im glad I saw both my teams play.

the team of last week and the team that played last night.

Thankyou Richmond

Good to see things never change at punt road, we still know how to embarrass everyone wearing yellow and black in games we are expected to win comfortably.
