Deledio really does not need to be a talking point of this game. He had an ordinary game, did some ok things at times but was probably slightly beaten by Pearce who didn't do THAT much either.

Our whole team except two players played poorly.

Helbig is miles from AFL standard he really cost us tonight unforuntately. We also don't have an AFL standard ruckman which is a real problem and I think we should trade for one.

Jack to me is a bit out of form with his marking. He seems to be misreading the drop of the ball. He is getting a lot of his goals from general play as opposed to a mark.

'Development Year' is no excuse for the ******ation that was on display tonight. Why is it teams like Essendon and West Coast can go from a rabble to awesome in the space of a year, yet for richmond it's a painfully slow process.

Dip stick as for having NFI you take the ****ing cake....you miss the ****ing boat, when you suggest he competed and so he didnt dissapoint...yeah? Dont blame the weather, the location or the lights fiasco blame the wrong mental attitude of the players and poor coaching decisions. Port were up against the same circumstances as us but they came to play we came to watch thinking the 4 points were in the bag.

You have to be able to play all over Australia these days its a fact of life but we need to treat every opponent with respect. Many of the young players would be out of their comfort zone with minimal interstate trips but we have another game in Cairns so get used to it. Agree it was a disgusting performance by us but as a developing team I just hope we learnt from it.

Browne tried, I'll give him that, he's a better player than Gus.

He bloody had to shoulder the ruck against a guy who is on fire, and is almost twice his bloody age.

Gus had been doing the same thing for the first 8 weeks of the season. Browne has only been doing it for 2 weeks. While he didn't have a great impact on the game last night I'd still be giving Browne another couple of weeks at this level to see if he can pick things up.

You're in for a massive shock if you think Derickx is the answer to our ruck problem. Was made to look second rate by an American yesterday in the VFL. The only way I see him getting a game this year is if Dimma goes down the same path as last year and just plays everyone or if Gus Browne Vickery Post and anyone else who can possible ruck gets injured.

The thing about Browne was he always went for the 2nd effort, he was playing against Brogan who is shouldering the Port team, Browne provided a contest, he can actually kick it really long, he just doesn;t have the confidence for it.

Leave him in for a week or 2 more, then see if he offers more then judge him.

For the first time in as long as i can remember, i was actually bored and not passionate while watching the game.

The park atmosphere, was terrible. The game from both sides was woeful and the commetary was like listening to the two guys on the Muppet Show. I just could not get excited.

When the light tower went out, i was praying for the second one to go and so we would replay the game in Melb later in the season.

Sorry, just lost for words and feel numb. Without doubt the worst quality game of AFL i have seen in ages.

I guess the disappointing aspects about this game are:

- With the performances and effort we put in this year we should have won this game. This is the 'Typical' Richmond of the last decade. As soon as we start to look good and get excited we lose the game we're expected to win. But the counter arguement to that is we are still a very young developing side and fluctuations in our performance is to be expected. If this continues in two year time then there would be something seriously wrong.

- We sold the game for $$$ and it bites us on the arse. It may have been the right decision at the time, but it appears to to be the incorrect one now. With the slippery conditions it suited Port because they appeared to have much bigger bodies then us. Once we mature we should win in those conditions. I don't think it's coincidence that the two most dissapointing games this season (Port and Hawthorn) was played in slippery conditions.

- Our midfield was awful. They couldn't take a mark or recieve a hand ball to save themselves. But however I thought they were hitting thier targets fairly well, it's just we fpt on fumbling it even though the ball is hiting them on the chest. That is no excuse however because Port were playing in the same conditions and didn't appear to have that problem.

-Or defenders. Rance is probably the biggest culprit here for the most basic tactic for a defender and cost us at least 3 or 4 goals. That tactic as a defender is DON'T LET THE BALL GET BEHIND YOU. While saying that I did like how he threw himself into the contests and running the ball out of defence.

That is the end of my rant right now.

Does the fact that we have won more games early in the season and are near the eight because we haven't had the bye yet change what our whole season should be about?

Longer term is Batchelor going to be a better player by being moved to cover up his current deficiencies or being beaten now so he can learn and improve?

Sure this season is about us improving but it is not about improving for just one year but for the long term.

It might seeme silly to say but sometimes we need to get beaten (both individually and as a team) to improve.

At 16m in the 3rd we usually go zone, Dimma should have pressed harder then to break us down

Brogan really is a terrific general for us. He does that to teams, its just he has to be rested and wasn't last night, usually oppositions 2nd ruckman works him and then he spells, and then they get goals. you need a key ruckman

umpiring, sorry, you can't all that one. i saw 1 obvious one, a few quick non handballs umps were unsighted for, but i think there were a few ahem, slung port players, one guy had his head ripped opp, chaplin held for mark goal. as youd agree, its not the ones our teams get paid against us, its the ones we simply dont get- that geelog and top teams always seem to get.

i think your players just didnt bring that collective intensity and let us control the tempo of the game. if you see 3 or 4 weeks like that, then you can worry, but Darwin is- as anyone lives lived or been there will tell you- is a crazy place and does weird things to your body and mind.

we'll take the 4 points for sure dont worry about that, but not worth going into a meltdown over. as much as we are a lazy team full of front runners and dinkeys and spuds, we at Port well know that when we have a game and the bouce goes our way, we can beat anyone....or lose by 119 points for that matter

Surely Helbig can stay in the ressies until he learns to be able to hold on to the ball and not fall over at the same. I swear every time he went within 2 meters of the ball we lost possession, not just the 25% de, every 80/20 contest he lost and he butchered 3 or 4 open goals under no pressure.
