While I agree that our list needs an overhaul I'd prefer to see the older spuds like Crowley, Bradley, Anthony, Grover but also Duffield, Mzungu and Ibbo given the boot with Mcphee and Johnson also shown the door in the next couple of years.

With the highlighted guys above and along with Pitt, Walters, Lower I'd like to see them given more games and responsibility and try to get a big group of players up to that 50-100 game experience a lot like the Eagles side atm.
You are suffering Draft disease. This is where you think kids and yet-to-be-performers are somehow magically going transform our side.

I've been on this board long enough to see the likes of Daniel Gilmour, Josh Head and many others get pumped up this way only to have them come in and look like duds.

Murphy is the answer, he can split packs and kick bags of goals I tells ya. 

You're not offering a lot of insight there.

Whats your solution?

Drop all the young blokes, keep all the old ones and try win a premiership by drafting in a new bunch of first year players every year?

*Bump*
I remember after the 2012 WC game about 10 games in to RTB's reign there was a lot of negativity, if you read some of the comments they are very familiar.
Are you trying to imply the current angst should be rendered irrelevant, and we'll be playing in a Grand Final next year?

Lyon is cooked. Always has been in fact.

I'm not implying anything. I am not sure if there is any reason for optimism, I just think a lot of so called experts thought similar things 5 years ago, it may be the same, it may not, time will tell.

I still have some (possibly misguided) faith in Ross.
It's been two years of pretty notable regression.

Sad thing is we're getting worse with the same players. It's not like we've gutted the sides and cut the fat mid-way through that time. It's going to get ugly.

Great bump although if I read your tone it seems to be in contradiction to some comments you made in another thread. From those other comments, I concluded you have the cross-hairs out on Ross already. This tends to suggest you are at least open minded.

I am sitting on the fence. Something doesn't add up to me with Lyon's calmness in the post match press conferences and the lack of structural changes in a game until after the game is well and truly lost. The sceptic in me says we aren't this bad and that it is all part of a plan.

Sceptic? I would say delusional/closeted, in-denial-optimist. Not to be harsh but people, including some 'experts' (like Damian Barrett) even think Ross Lyon is playing some incredible long ball game and last season was a purposeful misstep and this season is too. It's a load of shit. He's quite simply got too many average players and no suitable, relevant, or even tangible game plan. It's a mess. Head to toe. Bad recruiting, old ideas stinking the place up, a focus on perception and not advancement, a coach too comfy... this has been years in the making and I am a w***er on here so I'll just go ahead and say it: I was predicting this years ago and people were knocking me down, saying I was a pessimist. People have finally had enough.

Still remember that derby score line. Half time it was 3.2.20 to 2.8.20. Freo lost 5.6.36 to 11.18.84. Zac dawson got1 of out 5 goals that day too. For some reason after that derby loss, our season slowly turned around.

I think you have me mixed up with another poster, I'm on the fence like you. Not sure what other thread you are talking about, but don't think it was me, I haven't posted much at all. I think I just have eternal optimism, plus I think it is never as bad as it seems.

Haven't paid much attention here lately so what alias is Clay Davis under these days? :D

All teams have ups and downs ... we had an incredible run in 2015 and we won the minor premiership. I believe that Ross got more out of an average team in that year and because of how we went in that season we could not afford to play the youngsters and did not get a high draft pick. It was always going to hurt us in in the following years.I remember the commentators and bookies giving us 3rd or 4th favourite for the flag even though we were on top of the table.

I think things will turn around this year. I have optimism and easy access to the channel flipper
