I thought he did ok

Bollinger bowled very well and should play on Boxing Day.

Never said he didn’t bowl well, simply said he was a douche and I disliked him. Form and performance never comes into the equation on why I dislike someone.

Anyway, his performance in Perth was against substandard opposition and easily a fluke. Let’s see him perform like that against South Africa, India or England.

I haven’t read the entire thread so I don’t have much of an opinion but I know I already hate Phillip Hughes and Doug “I play for NSW so therefore I must get a call up to the test 12” Bollinger

Is that you KG he was always dribbling about the NSW/AUSSIE connection.Like some of my mates BUT when i used to say ok who would you drop and who would you put in no answer.

and before you mention Boof head Lehman i am talking test cricket something he could not play as opposed to 50 over bash and crash where he used to do ok

I see your denying a NSW bias and raise you a Steve Smith.

i love how armchair critics like yourself can take potshots at players who have been playing the game for many many years, and taking 8fa in a game is suddenly a fluke

maybe pull your head in bucko

So much anger Smoothy! Thought being on leave would chill you out a bit :)

Interesting statement there, what are your thoughts on Mitch Johnson then?

He was very good against South Africa 10 months ago, poor against the arch enemy on the ashes tour and been expensive against the Windies.

He’s not Glen McGrath but far, far superior to Doug Bollinger.

He has had one, one, good series against South Africa away, he was shit in India before last summer, and rubbish in England. You are over rating Johnson a long way.

Australian cricketing history is littered with w***ers. Its not exclusively an Australian thing, its a cricketing thing. Cricketers are by majority, w***ers. Cricket is supposed to be the sportmanslike sport and yet the histroy of pathetic cowardly sledging goes back decades.

Guys like Lillee, Marsh, Chappells, were any of these guys at all likeable?? Hell no. In the late 80's, early 90's Aussie cricket went through a glory period (perhaps not on the field), but character-wise, you had the likes of Taylor, Boon, Hughes, Warne, Mark Waugh, Border At least on the surface, these were likeable guys.

I have never liked Ponting, its somewhat irrational, but many probably feel the same, I just dont like the guy. I dont even enjoy watching him bat even though throughout his career is one of our best ever. He is a massive whinger, face like thunder.

The dominant decade of Aussie cricket being the noughties was littered with w***ers. So much so that I went for England in the '05 Ashes.

Hayden - worst slegder of the lot. Quick to dob others in
Langer - we get it mate, your back is against the wall
Ponting - as above
McGrath - fantastic bowler and completely unlikeable
MacGill- hahahah :D
Symonds - dear God, what a neanderthal
Brett Lee - Brett Lee.

Even Gilchrist, as great he was, was a bully expecting other batsman to walk and talking the moral high ground himself.

Where am I going with this? nowehere. ;) Yes, the Indians are bad but why do we get sucked in? They are the biggest underachievers in the sport.

Where and when did I ever say I rated him?

BTW - Don’t we agree on how he has gone?

I said he was good against South Africa (as you did), in not so many words, didn’t i say he was shit against England and not so good against the Windies. I didn’t add anything about his form against India as that tour slipped my mind. .

I said I hated Phillip Hughes and Doug Bollinger – nothing at all about Mitchell Johnson.

You've got to be kidding - Benn was the instigator!

The batsman has the right of way - Johnson could've sat Benn on his arse instead of doing the right thing and trying to avoid him. Benn responds by elbowing/bumping/grabbing Johnson - that's clearly out of line and not on. You can't get physical in Cricket, Benn was soley responsible for the first, and primarily responsible for the second.

And then he continued with it at the end of the over, when he should've been walking off (and a decent Captain/Umpire would've insured it didn't blow up like it did).

Add to that Roach hitting Punter, then hitting him again, then constantly bowling him short stuff, and the Windies all sledging Punter and giving it to him for the rest of the game. I don't have a problem with that - it's tough, competitive cricket - but if the Aussies did it you'd be having a massive sook.

And how can you seriously say that Gale isn't arrogant? "Who is Bollinger, I've never heard of him?" "Hauritz is playing? Doesn't matter, it's like bowling to myself when he's on." Dresses and acts like a Hollywood celebrity, not a cricketer. I don't mind the bloke, but he's arrogant.

It's like the people who carry on about how nice and friendly the Windies played when they were dominant; forgetting they had the best pace attack in the world which sledged the hell out of people and bowl so many bouncers and hit so many batsmen that they had to change the rules.

Katich - Seems like a good bloke, quiet, well spoken, certainly not arrogant.

Watson - So passionate and desperate to suceed that sometimes he gets carried away, and no question, he made a fool of himself yesterday, he'd know it and he wouldn't be proud of it.

Ponting - What exactly has he done now? Has been nothing but polite and respectful towards the Windies, even when he was being physically targeted.

Haddin - Just seems like a normal bloke, what's the problem with him?

Johnson - A bit of a girl, but no reason to hate him?

Bollinger - Plays with passion and aggression, great to see.

Finbarr - I can't work out if you're taking the piss or not by using Ranatunga as the bastion of good behavior.

Well put, it's basically what I would have written so thanks for saving me the effort.:thumbsu:

You may not have said you rated him but using your criteria I don't see how you can say in your words that he is far, far superior to Bollinger at this point in time. In fact if we were to compare their performances the only way possible and that is in the last two tests when they have both been in the same team, Bollinger has outperformed Johnson.
