Disposing of computers

Ok i have a really old computer, 2 Gig or something, havnt used it in 2 years also....enough pr0n and viruses to screw a small African Nation.

Do i throw it or is there people that may use it if i wipe it clean?

There are some charities that will take older machines (sans pr0n and viruses, obviously...), Google will be your friend.

Unless the parts are fairly new there's almost no point in selling them, PCs are just way too cheap these days. I've got two almost complete systems lying around in my spare room that will probably just get thrown out soon.

Don't throw infected pcs out. The viruses will contaminate the landfill!!

I'm assuming you've probably thrown it out/given it away but if you haven't yet, you should really wipe the hard drive as it is quite easy to get passwords and information off them which you might not want people to have. Just a thought...

put some linux on it. if you don#t want to keep it donate it (incl the linux on it)

Sign up to your local Freecycle group. You can find them at www.freecycle.org and when you post it it will be gone in a day. And you won't even have to leave your home as whoever gets it will come and pick it up.
