Div 1 2026

The silence from the league and Doncaster has not helped at all
Yeah it’s genuinely laughable at this stage, I don’t care what league or industry you’re in I don’t think anyone thinks this is the way handle/lack there of from league HQ the rumours and misinformation could be squashed by communication from league HQ.
Self preservation will always be the key unfortunately imagine being in a Div 1 club if you knew you had a bye week you can talk to your boss organise a day-week off go on a holiday with family we all know how long the footy season is and getting away could be a nice freshen up for some of these players but getting left with short to no notice is silly by league HQ

There’s nothing in the League rules about clubs emerging from recess. I imagine they’d be treated the same as a new club with the League coming up with viable options.

Will they be offered a D1 slot back, or will that go to the D1 relegated or D2 runner-up?

If not then you would imagine they’d re-enter at D4 as every other division has 10 clubs and you wouldn’t think they’d go above that. But who knows

Reemerging from recess is a way off. You would tend to think Donvale is the precedent here however.

Just because there is no public statement it doesn't mean the league hasn't been communicating behind close doors with other clubs.

In the end the demise of Doncaster was sudden and a reminder of how precarious things are. Even more so, if too much power rests with one person.

Nor should there be bunk case by case status here, if there was a blanket rule that they had to go to Div 4 your not letting them recruit 6-7 vfl players surely haha!!
Then the new debate which I know you’ll love bunk how does player points work? Obviously if they go Div 4 and get there old players back who played at a higher level bang 3 points that fills up quickly to everyone thinking this is a quick fix issue it’s not the river runs far and wide on this issue when it come to equality and fairness

Eight clubs, should be reasonably straightforward? Mirror the senior fixtures and then a few adjustments for those playing Mooroolbark.
exactly. As long as the under 19's are playing 18 games, it really dosn't matter who they are against. I imagine it will be a final 5 in an 8 team competition, so if you can't make the finals you don't deserve to be there

What do you expect them to communicate?

Until they’ve managed to get things finalized with exactly what is happening it’s really just a pointless placeholder to communicate anything outside of whatever they are doing in the background with clubs to reorganise things.

Wouldn’t be hard to email the clubs and just say “heads up guys Doncaster struggling in case this happens here is scenario 1,2,3” wow that’s hard 😂😂

Communicating the potential scenarios to everyone creates just as many questions as answers.

You don’t think the clubs affected - Division 1 are well aware of what has occurred? Bye.

There were clubs deciding whether they were willing to jump up a grade. You don’t think they were aware of the situation?

Sometimes hard for people to let it sink in bobby Fact there will be a bye in division 1 if boronia havnt been advised the EFL need to let them know

Is the salary cap based on per game? Or per season?
Will it drop the 10k or so with it being 16 games instead of 18?

Doncaster folded

A lot of fingers being pointed in all directions at the club (which is probably inevitable in these situations)

Committee blaming the league and the senior players and vice versa

EFNL attempted last week to have clubs move up a division from D2, D3 and D4 to avoid byes in all grades. Were unsuccessful as clubs not willing to go up in all grades. Will be a 9-club D1 with byes.

Surrey Park has apparently been the beneficiary with a group of 8-10 Doncaster senior players now training there. How you bring in half a senior team at this stage, who would know, would think it’s more likely they scatter to various clubs.

Door is open for Doncaster to return in 2026 however they’ll be basically be starting from scratch.

There 3 best players have ended up at Healesville.

Better check your sources re SP

please explain what is so dumb about it? I would have thought the teams playing 18 games is the priority and will help prepare them for senior footy?
“It doesn’t really matter who teams play”……Of course it matters! It’s a basic responsibility to provide as balanced a fixture as possible, and with 8 teams it isn’t that hard! There are people at the EFL who get paid to do this and they come up with play 5 teams 2 times and 2 teams 4 times. Brilliant! Good luck if you get on the wrong side of that draw.

Heard Rambaldi played in the practice game on the weekend for Surrey vs North Ringwood (apparently North Ringwood smashed them), but haven't heard of any others playing.
